Looking forward to seeing paasi in action. Lets see if the big time brings out the best in him...

I've made no secret that I've been largely underwhelmed by Bukaya thus far, so I have no problems with him not walking straight back into the team. Yeah looking forward to seeing what Paasi has to offer.

I don't know much about Paasi. What I have seen is that he appears to have good speed for a big man. That is the problem with Gubb and the Louisi's, they don't have great leg speed.

The Broncos will be tough and will provide a good test.

Yeah cappy is showing a lot of confidence in paasi promoting him over the experienced bakuya and also lousi and gubb who were both solid in a big win last week.
His form has been irresistible in reserve grade tho and it's great encouragement for the rest of the vulcans- if your form warrants it u will get a run with the big boys.
I dont know if any of our former coaches would've had the balls to give him a shot- u tha man cappy.

Warriors:
1. Sam Tomkins,
2. David Fusitua,
3. Dane Nielsen,
4. Konrad Hurrell ,
5. Manu Vatuvei,
6. Chad Townsend,
7. Shaun Johnson,
8. Jacob Lillyman,
9. Nathan Friend,
10. Suaia Matagi,
11. Ben Henry,
12. Simon Mannering (c),
13. Sebastine Ikahihifo.
Interchange:
14. Feleti Mateo,
15. Ben Matulino,
16. Agnatius Paasi,
17. Thomas Leuluai,
18. Jayson Bukuya.

I'm pretty happy with this team.

Obviously Agnatius Paasi is there as our fourth prop.
How big is Paasi? I couldnt find any stats on him.
At 183cm and 106kg<- he'd be as big as or bigger than most of our forwards so I'm sure he will handle the physicality well and won't get dominated. With Gubb failing to make any impression during his promotion period, Paasi has a great chance to leapfrog him in peckin order. TBH all it would take is a couple of powerful runs and making his tackles.

I'm pleased McFadden has returned Leuluai directly to first grade, as I expected. Thomas is too classy a player to waste in NSWarriors and his skills injected at hooker could very well be the difference between a win and a loss. I know some crazy fringe types wanted him to spend time in the reserves first, but I am confident Leuluai will show his value in the dummy half role and silence all doubters.

Also extremely pleased Chownsend retains the 6 jersey.

I'm assuming Bukuya is a "maybe" inclusion potentially in place of Ben Henry.

Jayson Bukuya is still out. Agnatius Paasi will DEFINITELY debut. Well deserved. Has worked his ass off and been patiently waiting to get a run. He'll go good...
Cheers for the update bro.

Looks like the path to first grade is based on a high work rate in the NSW cup. I thought Poching was outstanding through the middle last week, Vete picked it up after he copped a headbutt in the tackle.

Both those guys could rightly have played instead of Paasi.

Agnatius made more meters but he was running wide.

Paasi out tackled every one else as well so he's stepping up to Fg as a genuine Prop backrow option.

From the games I have watched Agnatius Paasi and Raymond Faitala-Mariner have been the most consistent players in that pack over the season to date. Thats been the key IMO.

Gotta feel for Poching. One of the only players in that pack that dont train full time and has to work but still puts in week in week out...

The more Cappy/players keep talking the more i'm convinced Paasi will play. Have we had any confirmation? if he's not playing I've never heard an 18th man get talked up like this.

Another alumni from the 2010/2011 GF winning period. The 2010 side especially was brilliant. Pretty much all of them either made a debut or at least picked up an NRL contract before fading away. Not bad for one team.

I'll say it again for those that dont read all posts, Agnatius Paasi will DEFINITELY be playing...

Already been mentioned in other threads that Agnatius is coming back home, but I thought I'd start his own thread:

League: Warriors sign prop Agnatius Paasi

The Warriors have completed the signing of former Gold Coast Titans prop Agnatius Paasi with the 25-year-old inking a two-year deal.

The one-test Tongan international becomes the third former Warriors player to return this off-season, joining outside back Peta Hiku and forward Matiu Love-Henry.

Paasi, who debuted with the Warriors in 2014, made 54 appearances for the Titans across three seasons. He enjoyed a superb Auckland Nines tournament in 2016 that propelled him into a strong season where he played all 25 games for the Titans.

But injury restricted the aggressive and skillful prop to just 11 games this year before he sought a release from the Titans.

"Agnatius became available after being released on compassionate grounds so he and his family could return home," said Warriors CEO Cameron George.

"We're excited to be able to add him to our roster. He's another aggressive forward, just the type Stephen (Kearney) is after as we look to boost our front row resources."

Paasi joins former fellow Titan Leivaha Pulu, Adam Blair, Tohu Harris and Love-Henry in a new-look forward pack.

Backs Gerard Beale and Hiku have also signed with the Auckland club.

My only worry about him is whether his body will hold up. He was solid last year but has been plaqued by injuries lately.

Still amazes me that he was let go by the club and not 6 months later he makes the Auckland Nines Team of the Year damn near taking out the Player of the Tournament award then rips in for the Titans 1st Grade squad like he's a seasoned pro. All that after spending some 3-4 years in our development program and only playing one game.

Not sure whether its a slight on our development and talent identifying but its seems ridiculous that he would turn into a solid 1st grader after leaving our club so soon. Being away from home, family, friends, comfort zones etc would play a part but something is seriously missing at the Warriors...

Did he not say going to the Titans took him out of his comfort zone?
