General 2023 Wooden Spoon Prediction

It will be a tie between the Dragons and the Dolphins.

Dolphins do not have the cattle
Dragons are in turmoil and are not far away from imploding.

I was listening to a podcast yesterday about the Titans and the Titan's expert said no-one really cares about Holbrook, that he seems a nice enough guy.

Also he won a super league title, so Gold Coasters are just relaxed about his job. That was the vibe.

Strange, but maybe AOB and Hook are frontrunners in the sack race?

They do but as long as Ponga is there they aint going anywhere!
I think Knights are a great shout for spoon.
Only team more dysfunctional than ours.

Sure Dragons and Dolphins lack the talent, but Knights have zero leadership in that squad and a coach who I think will be the first to get the chop.

Dragons are favourites. Tigers look ordinary. Dolphins will struggle when they have injuries through the season in their forward pack.
Dogs also looked average at best despite their big money offseason splurge. Just shows that you can recruit with cash, but that does not buy you passion for the jersey.

Tigers for the spoon. Roosters to miss the 8.
Penrith to fall back into the pack, Cowboys for minor premiers.

How’s that for a starter for 10?

Possibly not the Dolphins for the spoon.
A Bennett coached team was never a real contender but they were awesome for a first up team. They're going to be interesting to watch

It is the same as writing off some of the better teams. It is too early.

Some teams will start poorly and look like they are off the pace before picking up.

The challenge for the Dolphins is how long they can maintain that standard from yesterday? They were good to watch.

The Tigers moved the ball around a lot. Will that click or will it cost them too many games.

The Dragons were terrible during the pre-season. They got an extra week to turn that around. Time will tell.

Any injuries to the Dolphins could also derail their season, quite a lack of depth there. Can say that about a few teams actually

I said Dragons but wasn't impressed with the Dolphins preseason either.... geez they turned that around and made the Roosters look ordinary. I. still say Dragons for the spoon, but knights are moving closer towards that end. Don't at all agree with Ponga as captain. It shouldn't be the player with the highest ceiling and most demanding Dad that is captain... it's one that leads by example off and on the field, players will listen too and can ideally motivate with actions and words. There was a piece I heard that 1-2 years ago - Ponga said that he doesn't really love the game...it's just that he is good at it (Podcast).

Tigers will get better... their style needs 6 rounds to start clicking - they don't fully understand it yet but again we have more new players and we were better oiled - so more credit to Webster. Debateable I know - but I put Websters transformation with largely a new team and spine - to what Bennett did for the Dolphins which was a remarkable first up performance.

The tigers were really poor yesterday - no go forward, very lateral movement - that said i still think the dragons will fall over badly

Add to that Bateman's attitude as much as his ability will help them immensely - Another top leader.

I originally thought Dolphins, I now think Dragons or Knights. Leaning towards dragons

It shows how misleading the results of any pre-season games are when assessing how a club is tracking.

They haven't played a game yet, but with all of those rumors circulating around Hook's future at the Dragons it's not going to help the club's cohesion and they are going to have a real battle this season to prove the doubters wrong.

Anyone wanna revise their wooden spooners after yesterday's game lol???
Im leaning towards the dogs tbh- i just dont rate their lineup- think people have been drinking gus's cool aid.
Kikaus not what they needed, Thompsons out, not sure when tpj is back. they paid big bucks for Mahooney when they had jmk on peanuts and tbh im not sure its even an upgrade- jmk was their player of the year 2022!
Ciraldo came with a lot of hype but hes got the same cv as webster but has landed in a foreign environment.
$18 for the spoon is looking awfully juicy to me.
