Where do we place in 2023?

Cowboys probably thought the same, going from second last to top 4 in the space of a season. I like that Webster has been here before so knows what to expect and hopefully what we need to succeed, also the Ivan Cleary tutorage and advice having also served us. Truth is it’s an unknown, I feel more encouraged having a coach that’s trying to win rather than the previous just asking the team to compete though.
Yeah and Todd Payten was at the helm during that second last season.. it didn't all happen in the space of a season.. although ladder position it can be seen that way. It really took a season (and some luck due to injuries) for all of his changes to come to fruition.

If you look at the players we picked up Niukore, Barnett, Martin, Charnze Nicoll-Klokstad and Walker, they fall under the category of floor raisers rather than ceiling raisers.

It’s realistically the first year of a rebuild and the focus will be setting the tone long term I think rather than any quick fix.

I think we will be focusing on defensive improvement which we are better equipped squad wise this season rather than offensively where we are arguably one of the worst teams on paper.

I think we will finish between 10th to 13th if everything goes pretty well. Just don’t see us having the strike power to go any higher than that. Still a 10th place will set us up going forward if Webster can get structures in place this year.

Looking at this year, you could reasonably assume that RW's poor errors and missed tackles, along with the drubbing by Melborne Storm have probably contributed to about 150 points that won't be scored against us next year.
If we tighten up and prevent just one try from being scored each game on top of that (about 120 points), that's saved 270 points against us in relatively quick fashion.
If we're not having all those points scored against us, you can assume we would have more ball. More ball for us should result in more tries scored, but I don't think we can guess at how that correlates for us.

Anyways, I think we'll all be surprised next year. While I'm not saying well win the whole thing, there's so many little things that equate to quite a lot of difference for next year.

I’ll have a shot in the dark….

Roosters, panthers, rabbits good things for the top 4, sharks likely to round it out.
Rest of the 8- storm still have an amazing spine, eels might slip a bit but should still make the 8, I like the raiders squad- just depends if they’re sick of sticky- should make it, cowboys overachieved last year- had a great start to their draw, made the most of it and built some momentum- Paytons style similar to stuart could wear thin quick.
The rest…
Sea eagles could go either way- heavily dependent on turbos hamstrings, tigers, bulldogs and warriors should improve.
Broncos have one of the most talented squads but not sure they have the coaching staff to get the best out of it- the off season from hell won’t help.
Titans should improve slightly.
Knights, dragons to struggle.
Dolphins up against it.

1 roosters
2 panthers
3 rabbits
4 sharks

5 storm
6 eels
7 raiders
8 cowboys

9 sea eagles (could finish anywhere from 4th to last so hedged my bets)
10 tigers
11 Warriors (could surprise- bit of an unknown in many ways)
12 bulldogs
13 broncos
14 titans
15 knights
16 dragons
17 dolphins

Some factors to consider... we must build a positive points differential, higher the better and keep it that way all season, could sneak us in the top 8 if the comps even.
Receiving a couple of big ass floggings during regular season have cost us dearly in the last decade or so before covid.. so copping I or 2 of them again. Then season probably gone ... bottom 8..

In theory, improvement and recruitment in your spine would be where most teams would see a drastic improvement.

Tigers will have Staines and Api.
Warriors have Te Maire Martin and Charnze Nicoll-Klokstad
Brocs have Walsh
Doggies got Mahoney
Knights got Hastings and Miller

Because of this, I think it's impossible to guess on how these teams will go. Quite exciting given that there is so much unknown, as well as a new team in the Dolphins.

Bring on 2023!

I went for the optimistic 5-8 on the poll, cos I just can't make myself pick them as missing the finals yet again (even though that's highly likely!)

Have virtually no idea about the rest of the teams so just threw them into random.org and ran it till I got a result with Warriors in the 5-8 spot, will see how accurate this becomes at the pointy end of the season!
  1. Souths
  2. Eels
  3. Raiders
  4. Dragons
  5. Bulldogs
  6. Titans
  7. Roosters
  8. Warriors
  9. Sharks
  10. Dolphins
  11. Manly
  12. Panthers
  13. Storm
  14. Tigers
  15. Cowboys
  16. Broncos
  17. Newcastle

It's always sobering and/or mildly entertaining reading the Aussie pre-season media - they either don't know/don't care about the Wahs or consistently rate them bottom of the world. I'm pretty sure they be wrong about that this year, we're not a spoon team. I stuck us in the optimistic 5-8 bracket, knowing the Roosters, Panthers, Storm, Cowboys, Rabbits , Sharks and Eels make up the proper top tier in my opinion. But who knows, probably have to have a season to work this out accurately

They've predicted us to come last every year. We never have. So personally, my main aim every year is to avoid the spoon.

Put me down for these minor prem results. I've put them in my possible order, but also in tiers of peers (not to be confused with 80s pop group Tears for Fears.
Tier 1) Roosters, Panthers
Tier 2) Cowboys, Rabbits, Sharks
Tier 3) Storm, Eels, Raiders
Tier 4) Broncos, Bulldogs
Tier 5) Wests, Manly, Knights, Warriors, Titans
Tier 6) Dragons, Dolphins

Mr Brownstone

Hmm I dunno, for me Cody Walker is on the decline, and Ilais isn't fully up to it yet with only the one season. I'd be surprised if they're up the top. I've got them middling in the 8, somewhere between 4th to 8th.

I'll go:
Roosters
Panthers
Storm
Cowboys
Sharks
Rabbitohs
Warriors
Eels
Forget about Cody, these days it’s the TrellMit show

If we can keep the points differential in the positive(higher the better) then bottom half of top 8.... if not top half of bottom 8 or lower..

Yeah looks about right- id have tier 4 and 5 in the same bracket though- not much separating those 7 sides.
