I’ll group them into 4 groups.

Penrith
Cowboys
Roosters
Souths

Sharks
Eels
Storm
Broncos

Raiders
Manly
Bulldogs
Newcastle

Dragons
Warriors
Titans
West Tigers
Dolphins

I have us bottom 4, if not the worst in the comp, based off our spine players and lack of strong leadership on the field.

We got some good pieces, but I can’t see any game changers moving us into the to 8

I see us as a 10 - 14 side so put us at 11. I could see the Tigers getting into the 8 as having Api in the spine will make a difference and the forwards they have aren't half bad. Will depend on whether Brookes kicks on. Storm will likely make the 8 just cannot see them in the top 4. Sharks likely not to go as well this year as their draw in 2023 is not as nice as this year. My bottom 4 are interchangeable.

Mr Brownstone

Genuine contenders:
1 Panthers
2 Roosters
3 Cowboys
4 Rabbitohs
5 Storm

Top 8 threats:
6 Eels
7 Raiders (soft draw)
8 Sharks
9 Broncos (tough draw)
10 Sea Eagles
11 Tigers
12 Bulldogs

The Rest:
13 Titans
14 Warriors
15 Knights
16 Dragons
17 Dolphins

I think our range is 11th to 16th.

Are you a seer, a warlock etc. You left out a blindman. That fits me the best.

I tend to look at who made the finals the previous year and who are likely to be a safe bet to make it the upcoming year.

To me that would be.
Panthers
Cowboys
Roosters
Souths
Eels
Storm

You also need to look at who might slip from that list. When the analysts make their picks they often have the biggest sliders or biggest improvers. This could be the year the Storm miss the 8. I'm leading to the experience they have lost from the forward pack. They have brought guys in but it's a big test for their systems and to keep their record going.

For the teams after that group I'd have the Sharks first.

From there it gets tough as a lot of teams have recruited or changed coaches and have reason to be optimistic. From there it depends on if they respond like the Sharks with Fitzgibbon or if their new players gel or if they struggle.

Webster has sounded positive and we have recruited well so we could surprise like 2018. If we do we need it to continue. I'm still a bit cautious as we have got our hopes up each year to be burnt.

It will be interesting to see how some of the teams go. The Bulldogs under Ciraldo, Manly under Seibold who needs to rebuild his career. Does he redo mistakes and end up like Matt Elliott or does he turn them around? Sheens is experienced but is he still up to it?

I'm not across the entire competition as I used to be so I need to look into it a bit more. I don't see any really poor teams like there were a few years ago. The Titans made the finals in 2021 and fell in 2022. Is that going to continue or will they turn it around?

Roosters
Sharks
Cowboys
Souths
Penrith
Bulldogs
Eels
Warriors

Broncos
Storm
Tigers
Raiders
Manly
Dragons
Knights
Dolphins
Titans

Okay, so couple things that are imo;

I think Storm are and have for a while been on a downward trend, good leadership has left, I think this is the year they miss the 8. They lack depth, could see frustration setting in last year. Probably my biggest shock call of the year.

Panthers to still be up there, but sniffing around 4th at best to 6th. I dont think they will go 3 straight.

Bulldogs to reclaim being a top 8 team.

Warriors, Broncos, Tigers & Storm (possibly Manly too if Turbo is fit all season but thats the biggest risk) to be top of the bottom 8 fighting for 8th towards the end. Bet with me heart here. I'd like to say Broncos but they have Walsh as there FB, so unless they've had everyone running at him for him to tackle all pre season, theres the points leaked in leading to why they miss.

As for Warriors, a return the finals. Basically off of the amount of games we lose by less than 10 points and soft tries let in *cough, reece walsh, cough* , defence work being done in the offseason, a more experienced half in Te Maire Martin to help with the control of the game & I think with Charnze Nicoll-Klokstad back and his defence theres a few tries against us less than last year. SJs last season, new coach whos been under Ivan Cleary, should, key word, be a better year.

Titans for the spoon, Holbrook gone early to mid season.

Suualii to have that breakout year and lead the Roosters back to the Minor Premiership

This will be completely wrong & panthers will go back to back to back, Wahs will be mediocre or towards the bottom again, Bulldogs wont gel at all and be just as shit, storm will prove me wrong bahahahaha

I don’t think I’ve gone into a new season like this next one where my expectations for the team are not from looking through rose coloured glasses.
We definitely have an improved squad and a better balanced team on paper than last season but a few teams around us have also improved.
I’m expecting a topsy turvey season and for alot of teams to be battling for the top 8 right down to the final rounds.
Heart says top 8, head says 11th -12th, but there is always a team who defies logic each season , fingers crossed it’s our mob 🤞🏾

Warriorshopeful

1. Penrith - While they've lost a couple of good players the rest of their squad are all incredibly skilled, Cleary, Edwards, Fisher-Harris, Yeo, To'o and May can definitely contest for a 3rd year premiership, just watched their top tries of 2022 and damn they are some skilled players.
2. Roosters - Think Sam Walker, Keary, Teddy, Suali'i and Manu are going to have a good year
3. Eels
4. Souths
5. Cowboys
6. Sharks
7. Raiders
8. Broncos
9. Storm
10. Warriors
11 Bulldogs
12 Sea Eagles
13 Titans
14 Tigers
15 Dragons
16 Dolphins
17 Knights

Top 6 I'm fairly confident on being in the top 8 next year. After that I struggled with the placements a bit. I think Storm will drop off a bit after losing a lot of their experience. Manly with the trouble towards the end of last season with the Jersey fiasco and losing Hasler to drop a bit. Bulldogs and Tigers to improve along with warriors. Titans not sure on, Dragons to drop - Ben Hunt has fairly average defense with the most missed tackles in 2022, plus Lomax also had the most errors
Dolphins I think will go better than expected with a few teams possibly underestimating them but obviously first year they have a lot to build and work on. Knights I think will end up bottom of the table.

Think the cowboys and sharks are going to drop back a bit, Roosters to take a top 4 spot, wish the storm would fade but they probably won’t. Knights spoon I reckon is a good chance. And don’t think Kevin walters is taking the broncos anywhere north of 9th. Warriors an unlucky, battling, 12th, just don’t think we can score enough points and are a Tohu Harris or Addin Fonua-Blake injury away from getting pumped in the middle every week.

Roosters
Panthers
Storm
Eels
South’s
Sharks
Cows
Bulldogs I smell some rigging it for Gus, they’ll get blasted in the finals but somehow sneak into 8th
Raiders
Broncos
Tigers
Warriors
Manly
Dragons
Titans
Dolphins
Knights

Warriorshopeful

I think warriors 14th without Liu
And 10th or even 9th with Liu
My reason for expecting us to rise from second to last to fourth to last is that we have jettisoned some of our developing players and replaced them with experienced ones
I think our other biggest worry for next year is injury/suspension too. Though we do have a bit of depth not sure how ready some of our depth is to step up.

I hope I am wrong, but Shaun Johnson has played one season too many in my books. And that was this year. He was shockingly terrible. Beyond terrible. His kicking, passing, discission making, running, defense ... all below NRL standard.... really not sure how he gets another run as our starting half...

And the Shaun Johnson and Te Maire Martin combination - not convinced they can play week in and week out, and get us into the top 8. Te Maire Martin is not a specialist half - wasnt he at FB, half, wing for the broncos? - a utility...?

I really like the look of Newcastle because I rate Hastings. I thought he was fantastic for the Tigers. No idea why they let him go. Him pairing with KP should be a good watch.

Burton and Flanagan can only be better with another season under their belt. This was burton's first season in a new position - he can only get better.

I agree Shaun Johnson was average at best 2022 season but I think when Webby was mentioning Legacy and what Shaun Johnson can leave behind is going to be a huge motivation especially in his potential last season. Fingers crossed.
