Recruitment 2023/2024 Warriors Recruitment DISCUSSION

We also don't know what we offered either. Might not have been big money. Maybe Webby/Cappy intend on releasing some other players to try and sign some big names.
At that point he’s just taking up a roster spot.

We have good starters at that position and it’s the only position we have quality younger guys coming through that are actually close to first grade ready.

And that’s ignoring the fact he’s just not that good anyway

I don't rate Seyfarth or Sironen. Not too hopeful of Ford either, as an undersized crap team castoff.

If we're pestering the Tigers players get a prop. They have 8 in their 30 and at least 4 of them are Kiwis,

There are always some depth players in our top 30. I think Sironen is off contract this year, so my guess would be they were looking to replace him.

I don't know why, personally I don't like the warriors recruiting back-rowers as it's one of the positions we do produce a lot of. I think Cappy/Webster would have their reasons though.

The weird thing about the article is the use of the word lucrative. I'd be thinking (for that player) close to minimum wage as opposed to lucrative...

Sironen gets replaced by the likes of Laban, Maiuu, Sifakula and that money goes towards prop signing for 2024

Here's our team’s contract status, I've sorted them into areas of supposed expertise, starting with hooker candidtates - 2nd row - lcok- prop. Then halves, 5/8,FB.Wings, Centres.
And my opinion of what to do at their contracts' end.

Wayde Egan 2023 2024 - re-sign quickly
Freddy Lussick 2023 2024 - ?
Jazz Tevaga 2023 2024 -? 29 discipline?
Dylan Walker 2023 2024 2025 - 30 release
Josh Curran 2023 2024 - resign if not in jail
Jackson Ford* 2023 2024 - probably release
Bayley Sironen 2023 - release
Niukore* 2023 2024 2025 2026 -31 release
Tohu Harris 2023 2024 - 32 probably release Barnett* 2023 2024 2025 - 31 release
Whichever Kepu 2023 2024 -?
Addin 2023 2024 2025 2026 - 31 release
Bunty Afoa 2023 - resign for 2 or 3
Tom Ale 2023 - probably resign for 3

-----------BACKS-------------
Volkman 2023 2024 2025 - good contract
Shaun Johnson 2023 - probably release
Te Maire 2023 2024 2025 -30 release
Luke Metcalf* 2023 2024 - ?
Charnze 2023 2024 2025 - 30 release
Watene-Zelezniak 2023 2024 - release ASAP
Edward Kosi 2023 - resign right away
Marcelo Montoya 2023 - release
Rocco Berry 2023 2024 - probably resign

I like the signing tbh would of played a lock role to give Tohu Harris a spell got a feeling there will be a few players playing 2 positions threw out the season according to Barnett and Webster re interviews.. too me he plays under a very weak system may be different now with Sheens & Benji at the helm, I look back to his performance against Broncos RD20 where Tigers won, he set up a try, made a line break ran for 82m, made 50tackles with 1 miss. So the potentially is there then I look back at his junior career 2017 bursted on to the scene, 2018 won U20s player of the year, also played NSW u18s on debut season than played for NSW U20s. Upside also 24yo so still has plenty of time to learn his craft, gotta also add in a different environment people change quickly and he looks like one that has great work ethic, has a good attitude, doesn't shy away from effort. Downside talent isn't fully there yet but under a different coaching regime he may do great, Madge went to Tigers it definitely went backwards in terms of coaching as much as I love Madge and don't want to discredit him but something must of been really wrong under Madge

To add on, everyone was disappointed in the Montoya signing at the time, since he was apparently (i don't follow other teams) average at the struggling bulldogs. He's pleasantly surprised.

Tigers are trying to offload Seyfarth, Nathan Brown is his replacement apparently. If he wants to stay in Sydney, we need another Sydney team with too many props to show interest in him to hopefully see a multi club transfer. Tigers also have their top 30 full and as I said, want Nathan Brown. With all those props, even if they can’t offload Seyfarth then maybe they would release a prop to fit Brown in?

He should be pleasantly surprised he was about to be out of work.

Seyfarth is pretty highly rated - But I don't know why we wouldn't just keep Siro. Maybe they've already made the call he wont be here in 2024 perhaps. Or have been going for a straight swap even, with his Tiger links.

I see a young Fijian second rower at the tigers Kitione Kautoga is desperate to leave the club after debuting this year. They really rate him on their forum and his tigers player profile doesn’t seem to be there at their site now.
