People get fixated on Nov 1, it’s NEVER a flurry of signings people keep expecting every year.
Pretty sure that’s the date you can start negotiating, club’s blatantly do it before then but you’d think they’d wait a little bit before announcing deals to at least keep up appearances of complying

Salary cap isn't agreed to for 2024 apparently so no team can make a monster 2024 offer at the moment.

Isn't it nice to hear Webby wants to Be a long term club coach 10-15-20 years. I reckon that type of long term approach is what's needed for our club to be successful.

But again, if that’s the case, where does jazz fit in then? They must consider him a prop- I don’t believe we would extend him this far out if it’s just for depth.

Another thought Defence
Do the pieces of the jigsaw puzzle really need to fit together. If we end up shallow in one position or not utilise walker correctly then that is understandable when some of the recruits are from the Nathan brown regime and the Webster regime may not see a fit for that player in the same position as brown did.

I might be jumping the gun a bit here but it is interesting looking at how long everyone is signed for, based on ZT. If we assume that Bunty, Ale and Kosi will resign for at least one year (and Shaun Johnson is signed for 2024???) our 2024 squad already has 25 out of the 30 spots locked in. Compared to a team like the Storm who have 15 out of the 30 spots locked in. Maybe we have offered longer deals to players so that they actually come to the Warriors but hopefully that also means we will be looking to sign a marquee player, rather than a whole bunch of signings like 2023.

Here is the breakdown of players in each position for 2024, obviously there is still debate as to who plays where so I have included names. It isn't what I expected, a lot of middle forwards and not many centers/outside backs.

Middle forward - 8 (Afoa, Ale, Addin Fonua-Blake, Barnett, Harris, Kepu, Kepu, Tevaga)
Hooker - 3 (Egan, Lussick, Otukolo)
Second-row - 4 (Curren, Ford, Niukore, Williame)
Halves - 4 (Shaun Johnson, Martin, Metcalf, Volkman)
Centre - 2 (Berry, Vailea)
Outside back - 3 (Kosi, Charnze Nicoll-Klokstad, Dallin Watene-Zelezniak)
Utility - 1 (Walker)

Johnson is only signed for 2023 at the moment.

NRL signings tracker has updated him to 2024 recently.
Imo that page has been fairly inaccurate in the past. Others like to use it as the one source of truth.

Zero tackle has him signed for 2024 as well, both are fairly inaccurate but in more than one source it’s a possibility. I wouldn’t think there’s any chance of Dylan Brown coming if it’s the case.

Re watched the Samoa England game and it makes me want to re sign Chanel Harris-Tavita when he is ready.
The whole World Cup, you can’t teach Heart and he is the definition in a footy player.
We have signed so many utilities but if he ever wants to return we should make him a priority imo

There is no doubt Samoa are better with him in it on the field. Hell of a way to end your career (even if it is temporary) with a WC champions medal.

I'd say the recent coaches all the way back to Anderson were. Planning on long term gigs.

We just have a over inflated sense of expectation. Which is worsened by the fact we are a one team nation. And the media can only take aim at one team when it ain't going well.

But I agree it's nice for a coach to state that outright. He has the fortunate position of being relatively unknown and our last unknown coach Cappy did pretty well just wasn't given time. And the teams lapses cost him.

Sorry for the DP btw. Just wanted to say I'm on board with Webster haha. 2024 will bring some good fortunes back at home etc. Buy your memberships helps the boys out!

I think any coach would want to have a long term at one club.... it's means the team they've coached has been successful enough that the club doesn't want them moved on.

It feels like a full reset at The Warriors.
Back home, new coach and football dept, junior grades, and some upgrade recruits.
There will be some bumps in the road but I think positive foundations have being laid.

It wasn’t Webby but when the Walker signing was first announced CG and Hodges both said he’s been signed to play a specialist 14 role. Which is why it does my head in reading the daily walker to centre posts!!

Haha I just reread the initial announcement and Hodges does actually call him a centre oooops my bad. I’m sure they did state elsewhere he would be playing 14 though! Hmmm I dunno that was before webby signed so he may have a different plan anyway
