General 2021 WILL THE WARRIORS MAKE THE TOP 8?

So you mean to tell me that I have to suffer through six games???

I will take the bullet.
I was seriously upset when we lost the Broncos game. I had said maybe 3 weeks back that I've accepted the fact we're not going to make the 8 just enjoy each game. I must've lied cause this forum had me convinced we had a real chance after our 3 wins in a row.
No fken way I'm putting my self through that for 6 games 😅. What makes it even harder is the fact the Sharks play after us this week.
Actually come to think of it the rest of the games are in our favour, only need the Broncos to continue their hot form.
Ah fk it I'm all in, see you guys on Friday 😅.

Sorry I was the one that kicked this thread off again a few weeks ago.

I had written off the season with 7 losses in a row. We got over the Tigers and Sharks then pointed out hey we aren't looking too bad and we get to play the two sides at the bottom of the table now where everyone else has already played them and in some cases twice.

I'll see myself out now.,

It is a free world...the only stupid question is the one you don't ask...I think ;) ...I stand to get egg on my face over the Knights...there should be a ministerial enquiry there.

I think we’ve been very unlucky this season. Disregarding all the injuries and disruption, our draw has worked out terribly:

- We play the Bulldogs, Tigers and Broncos only once in the season
- We play the Broncos late after they have found form. Early season it would have been an easy game.
- We lost to the Dragons while they were competitive (had won 2 of last 3 prior to us) and the following week the BBQ came out and they fell apart losing the next 6 in a row.
- We played the Cowboy when they struck some mid season form (5 wins from last 7 prior to us). They fell away later and have lost their last 10.
- We played the Sharks (the first loss) when they had won 4 of the last 5 and Shaun Johnson was in form. Shaun Johnson gets injured and they are comparatively a lot easier.
- The Knights have been patchy because Pearce has been injured most of the year. They have 7 wins from 9 with him there. Both our games Pearce played and played well. If only we met them without Pearce…

What could have been if we had played one or two of these teams at slightly different times…

For what it’s worth CH9 WWOS is reporting C Munster saying the Storm will rest over 10 players for the last round game against the Sharks. If we had any mathematical probability of being in the running, this will extinguish It. I would repost the article but I’m not clever enough

Another reason, in an already rather long list, to hate the storm.

Not that it makes any difference, but very interesting reading. Guess the Aussie TV will give this nationwide coverage in the coming days ;)

With this thread I did the only sensible thing to sort this matter out and held a Séance. I got through, but they asked me to call back as they had a big welcoming party for Charlie Watts (RIP)

We were not meant to make it.

We have been penalised, 6 agains and had every 50/50 call go against us.

Here is the proof - total tackles made:

48B02DC6 91D3 4F7A 98FC B7BFC8A619F4
We have suffered low possession (46%). This is despite a top 8 completion rate (79%) and 7th best for missed tackles. We have just been made to do to much work that is not justified by other stats.

Our season has been summed up by fatigue and injury as we’re forced to do 20% more work than some other teams.

I really think we would have made the top 8 if games only went 20 minutes. An 80 minute game just does not suit our style of gameplay. It is just too long for the Warriors players to have to concentrate for. Even in the games we were behind in at 20 minutes, it would not show any major blowouts. Even the South Sydney game would not have looked so embarrassing :)

That’s actually not a bad idea…

20min games would be entertaining

So the 8th placed team will scape in with only 10 wins out of 24 games and a minus points differential. Wow. Has the bar been so low before?

The top 6 were just so dominant.

It was the perfect year for us to have snuck in if we had a few of the 50/50 games go our way.

and there seems no good reason. I have seen that when looking through my stats during the season.

Manly have done 7008 tackles in 23 games
The Warriors have done 8311 tackles in 23

Thats 1303 extra tackles across the season. That’s 56 extra tackles per game. That’s 9 extra full sets each and every game on average we’re having to defend than Manly.

You imaging the extra fatigue and injuries we are being subjected to!

Yet the stats don’t point to an obvious reason like errors.

I am sure the brains trust have figured it, certainly Gould would have.

I would be having a very stern word with the referees boss.

Be careful using ‘total tackles’ - some sources aggregate each players individual count to get the team total, but this is misleading because if three players make a tackle then it is counted as a tackle for each (ie three tackles). I’m not sure whether that’s the case here but I think a better measure is ‘play the balls’

Manly’s average is 304 tackles per game.
The Warriors average is 361 per game.

This seems about right for a game. Can’t find ‘play the balls’ for the season under NRL stats.

Based on that I would say they are double counting tackles, there are not 6/700 ptbs per game
