General 2021 WILL THE WARRIORS MAKE THE TOP 8?

H ere is my prediction, if we make the 8, preferably get a couple of weeks, but not vital. Then can come home, and maybe get extra home games and/or favourable draw. Stay relatively healthy then I predict we will be challenging for the Premiership, but we need those other things as well.

One step closer if the Tigers upset the sharks today, and a miracle from the Bulldogs vs Newc would make that 7th spot potentially still in the play.

To be realistic, we need to not only win the final 3, but have a 20 point turn around on each of the games just in case it comes down to FnA.

Despite annoying me that we could have made the top 8, fairly easily 4 weeks ago and that 2 months out from Finals it looked unlikely we have any shot really was too much to take with this disjointed but still high quality 30 man squad.

But regardless Im going to stay loyal and ride the impossible possiblity right to the wire with the team. UpUp Warriors..

From experience following more successful teams like Crusaders for decades, the Warriors just need to focus on winning all their games and not worry about anything else now.

Other teams above us are gonna crack and drop some winnable games. We just have to make sure we don’t end up doing the same thing

Beating a resurgent Broncos at home, Raiders that are competing well against top 5 teams and a desperate Titans side, this is a tough assignment itself, though we do have a better than 50/50 chance of taking all 3 games

100% sure that is their mindset, which in itself is an amazing achievement by Nathan Brown

I don't follow the EPL much these days but I am sure it still applies.

It usually applies in the NRL, except we don't have true home and away so it gets gerrymandered. That will be the thing that saves Newcastle.

At present on PD they are 14th...not 9th, not 10th...but 14th ladies and jellybeans.

So they have no fecking right to be in the top eight, and if they are it shows how badly gerrymandered the NRL system is.

Rant over....they won't make the 8.

mate if Brownie can motivate a team for intensity, defensive resilience and offensive composure, for 3 games, I will feel soooo much better about him being at the club.

My worry is, we will lose Walsh in 23 back to Brisbane and likewise Shaun Johnson will retire end of 03 if he cannot find a way to play a less X factor version of a half back.

So next year really is all Brown is garunteeed for having an awesome forward pack and an A level spine.

Can only manage 1 year at a time, who knows where we could have finished this year with a couple of close finishes going our way. However, provided coaching serves its part, I really think we have a read hot chance next year. What happens after that Im sure we will keep hunting marquee level talent, at the moment, the hooker position is weak but Kodi is changing that with speed out of dummy half when available and solid in clearing the ruck to the right offensive player quickly. I reckon its one of the most exciting positions in the game offensively, and he has the perfect skill set with his speed and foot work to create havoc for Walsh/Shaun Johnson in broken field play. Just needs some help on improving defensively.

So…just to be clear, your system of determining who deserves to get into the 8 depends purely on points differential?

And this works 95% of the time?

Other than the flawed golden point gimmick I think they've got it spot on for this comp with points differential only being needed when teams are deadlocked. You only need to look at the Super Rugby bonus point system to see how silly it can be when counting anything other than wins losses and draws.

Yip I agree. If we all played each team twice you could argue it’s even, but when the Titans play Dogs and Broncos twice and we don’t, this means that in theory we’re missing out on the opportunity to get more points against a lesser team etc

Impressive win by the Sharks today, but they still have to play the Storm. Warriors win all 3 games and surely the finish ahead of the Sharks.
