Fuck ‘em even if we win both those games, people will still find reasons to doubt… was at home… at full strength what about when injuries… origin… pressure of expectation… broncos suck and dragons were due to loose… should have won by more… the real teams wait until august to make their run… peaked too soon… wait until they play the ’97 knights or ’00 broncos, those champions Johns and Lockyer that will be the true measure…
Reality is, the salary cap does work and their are no perfect, unbeatable teams these days, someone has to come top of the log, why not the warriors, they are well drilled, fit, their defense has been very good, and have players with points in them.
Some coach will realise the warriors have changed and completions and wait till they fall apart won't work anymore, roadblocks will appear, no one can foresee when or against who, just loving looking forward to the games, have shed the looming sense of dread and the frantic analyzing, of maybe can win this if the refs favour us, or maybe if they are missing players, or maybe if we make minor selection changes, maybe, maybe a win, maybe if not travelling too far, or too hot, maybe... already got fucking 5 of them!
Good rant bro !
That's exactly how I feel about all these qualifying statements FUCKem.
We could just as well lose the next two and go on to win the minor premiership.
I think people are slow to adjust to the idea that it is a brand new recipe using some old ingredients...but Warriors past are like apples and oranges.
Two big mistakes teams keep repeating is wasting tackles in the middle on our try line.
Centering play is fine, but early in games, sides keep running big men at the middle.
No one has scored through our middle, it's our strongest third.
Running at Luke and
Johnson has been working, Canberra made those two go quiet with the ball, but as a defensive pair, they are putting on some of our best hits.
Peta Hiku is improving in defence, he is one of the weaker links, this week he sat Cohen Hess on his arse 1:1 and Hess was ginger after that.
Coaches will eventually work the Warriors out, no one is immune to analysis.
The Warriors bench make up...makes that task harder though...because they are ignoring convention there, both with timing ( holding fresh ammo for the 2nd half sometimes) playing some weird combos of players.
Teams will reach the same fitness peak as the Warriors ( Tigers Dragons Penrith, the Rabbitohs have picked up looking at their late assault on the Dragons etc).
Our speed puts us in a select group, our speed and quality of the spine is a bankable asset...you cant shut down all of it.
Our edge defence is still a work in progress, the right it comes down to some improvement at Center ( I have faith in
Hiku finding form) and our Left combo are very inexperienced ( they aren't as leaky as round one, Kata has been great in the past, we still have
Beale to measure up too).
Getting back to the original point, come finals time, if we are in the top four, we will still have voices saying they haven't done anything yet.
Hell even if they win the dam thing, people will see reason to talk about one hit wonders.
Fuckit...this year...this unique combination of factors will never be repeated...such is the reality of the new.
Embrace it, get all the joy you can on this ride because it is previously un dreamed of.
