Just watched the game for what must be the 6th time, took some notes throughout:
- forwards running in numbers to keep the defense honest, not just one-out hitups
- variation in attack: using the width, putting players under etc.
- I hate these commentators
- halves playing both sides/same side
- markers getting out quickly and making early contact on the forward runner
- improved kicking game, looks like we're kicking for touch more often which might suggest we're pacing ourselves. Hopefully it'll leave us with more in the tank in the back end of the game
- need more pressure on kicker
- naming
Roger Tuivasa-Sheck captian was brilliant, he's playing out of his skin... he and mannering are definitely the people I want leading this playing group
- aggressive tackling/ hitting hard and sticking, I like this because it'll instill a sence of fear and apprehension in our opponents when they run the ball, something which I think has been missing for a while
- running at the half-back (mostly bunty), I like this because it provides easy meters and tires the opposition play maker
-
Roger Tuivasa-Sheck jumping into first receiver
- kick reception is weak (kickoff and dropout)
-
Fusitua has finally realised how big he is
- tui to
Fusitua pass looked like a set play, I hope it was as I'd like to see tui given a more dynamic role than just kick returns and finishing, he has the skills after all
- support runners can get lazy late in the game (
lisone, vete), no point being there if it's obvious you won't get the ball. Need to improve fitness/effort
- bunty and papalii do 1%ers i.e. support running with intent
- right side more comfortable attacking
- tomkins needs longer sprigs
- left side should implement play where wing/centre cuts back in (used by leuluai and manu last year)
- peteru looked good, late bloomer?
- scramble D looks good, desperate
-
Johnson comfortable on D
- Clark ahead of
Tevaga based on passing
- I really hate these commentators
- best set play same as ages ago,
Johnson > FB > Centre
-
johnson taking on the line a little bit more (just a little)
