Continued from the story............................... Kieran Foran earning his keep at Warriors in unusual ways

Draw out this week and the Warriors may not be at home for their first game.

Reading between the lines the concerts over the summer appear to be taking priority over the Warriors home games by the RFA.

Meanwhile, the draw for next season is expected to be released this week and contrary to media reports, it's unlikely the Warriors will start their campaign with a home game against the Dragons.

There are a number of concerts at Mt Smart Stadium over the summer, including Bruce Springsteen in February and Adele the following month, but Doyle says there aren't any concerns about these causing disruptions to the Warriors fixtures.

"We've been working away with the RFA (Regional Facilities Auckland) on that.

"They've kept us in the loop and we've been working with the NRL around it, so there are no issues around that."

Ahead of last year's Eagles concert at Mt Smart Stadium the Warriors threatened legal action against Auckland Council, for booking the venue for the veteran American rockers without consulting the club.

It occurred during a time when relations between the Warriors and the stadium owners were at an all time low, with the club threatening to quit Auckland as the council tried to force them out of Mt Smart Stadium.

That issue was resolved and the Warriors are committed to staying in Penrose until 2028.

Doyle says relations between the club and Regional Facilities Auckland are considerably better.

"They've been really positive and we find solutions for different things," he said.

There have been conflicts during the season in the past. The issue came from the Eagles one because no one from the Warriors was consulted. It was before my time."

So now there's conflicting reports and apparently we could be staring the season off by playing the Knights. Ugh, the Knights combined with our round 1 hoodoo is a concern. No team has any business losing to the Knights at the moment.

Damn straight. Hoodoo is right.

West Tigers was only team to lose to Knights last year and we lost to them in our first game of season.

If we do play Knights for our first game, you can almost guarantee with the way NRL has it in for us it will be in Newcastle which can only make our task of winning over there even harder, no matter what their current record is, so it seems like God wants to fuck with my dreams again. Here's hoping that nothing else changes, that we do play Dragons first up at home and that if we do play Knights it will be in our first postseason trial match, the opponent for which has yet to be named ... :sorry:

Oh, well, here comes another fortnight of the NRL website saying:
Tomorrow: "The draw for the 2017 NRL Season will be released Thursday."
Tuesday: "There a few last minute things to check, but the draw for the 2017 NRL Season will be released Thursday."
Wednesday: "In consultation with our media partners, the draw for the 2017 NRL Season will be released next Tuesday while we iron out all outstanding issues."

Sunday: "As all parties have not signed off on the draw at present, the draw for the 2017 NRL Season is on hold and NRL will advise when it will be released."

Home game to start.
2 games against the Raiders.
2 games against the Sharks.
No away game to the Dragons.
Consecutive away games - which hopefully mean the club stay in Aussie for the fortnight, not go back and forth which always seems a waste of time and space but no Bluey-style theme parking, please!
Not overly fussed about which day home games are but IIRC JD said/implied there were at least 4 Friday night games in our draw? (Assume that's for the new 6PM slot, so 8PM our time?)

Would like to see the NRL take the whole "name the team on Tuesday" thing more seriously or allow clubs to not have to name the team until closer to their particular game. Play The Ball made some good points about this regarding NRL Fantasy etc and the monies flowing in the NRL's direction from these games.

Yeah it's been pretty amateur the last few years with how long things have taken to get the draw done. Then after all of that we get teams with 5 day turnarounds, or teams complaining about doing ridiculous travel for a specific period.

From you scenario above. It needs the fine print "One of the clubs had a moan so we need to rejig the draw to favour them over their opposition" or "One of our favoured clubs complained as they didn't get an unfair advantage or they had a short turn around on a particular week for a key game".

Anyway when it does get released it will be interesting, especially all of the 5 day turnarounds that got a lot of attention recently. Not sure if it was from 2017 or 2018 things were going to be fixed.

If we are not playing the Dragons at home in round 1 we better be playing at home. When was our last season we started the year at home? 2012?

The NRL likes to stack round 1 as the crowd figures for that round seem to be a big deal. I read an article one year querying why they went nuts giving most of the Sydney sides home games where spreading it out to the other centres, mentioning Auckland would be a better idea.

They like to have big matches. I wouldn't be surprised if they match the teams up and then we get who is left. The Eels used to be crap, now the Knights are crap. Starting to sound like that's the way things work. To change that we'd need to win, winning would fix a lot of our problems. So boys win round 1 to kick things off.:D

Whatever the draw is (although round 3 in Dunedin is a bonus), getting off to a good start plus Origin is the key, but we've been saying that for 22 fucking years

Absolutely agree with this. The worse thing about all this for me is how are all NRL clubs supposed to sell memberships and go on a membership drive, one or two months on from Grand Final if NRL hasn't even released draw yet ? Most people I know like to plan ahead for next year so I can't see many but the most dedicated of NZ Warriors fans buying membership before NRL draw has been announced. Maybe there's some logistic thing here that I'm not seeing but look personally speaking I never understood why the NRL couldn't have next season draw already organised the week after Grand Final. Are things really that difficult to finalise ? And saying that I also never understood why NRL doesn't kick off with Grand Final rematch for it's first game back followed by week of traditional rivalries all weekend long I.e Sea Eagles V Knights, Bulldogs V Eels, Sharks V Dragons Roosters V Rabbitohs, Storm V Warriors, Cowboys V Tigers, Raiders V Panthers, Broncos V Titans etc

:)

Warriors to possibly play Bulldogs in RD 3 at Forsyth Bar Stadium in Dunedin because of Bieber lol,

BLAME IT ON BIEBER, OFF TO DUNEDIN FOR THE 'DOGS
News Limited's David Riccio reports that the availability of ANZ Stadium poses significant problems in the early part of the 2017 season, with the venue booked out for back-to-back concerts in mid-March. Singers Adele and Justin Bieber will utilise the Olympic venue across the second and third rounds of the Telstra Premiership, which means all five tenant clubs (Canterbury, Parramatta, St George Illawarra, South Sydney & Wests Tigers) will have to give the venue a wide berth.

South Sydney have reportedly been given clashes against Manly and Newcastle away from home, while Canterbury are away to the Roosters at the SFS before taking a home game against the Warriors to Dunedin's Forsyth Barr Stadium in Round 3.

I'm guessing the Warriors will be playing a few games either as 'away' games or home games out of Auckland due to the Bieber and Adele concerts at Mt Smart at the end of March
