Does anyone watch the NSWarriors regularly? I've seen a couple of games live and that's about it. Any players banging the door down for first grade selection??
The last time I saw Ata he was awful in defence, and that was against the Dogs who were coming last at the time, definitely reminded me of Shaun Johnson in his early years from a defensive technique and positioning perspective. Has he improved?

I haven't seen any live games so haven't been able to see what he does off the ball but I have seen several of his televised games this year before he suffered the gash to his knee and from my perspective one of his defensive assets is his ability to read a the play, he's better defensively than where Shaun Johnson was at the same time, he's not afraid to get his body in front and does well to wrap the ball and the player up for a smaller man.
I missed that Bulldogs game but all the games I've seen him play including the Junior kiwi's game I've thought his defense was a big part of his game and one of the reasons I could see him handling first grade.

Quite a few.
Ackland, Wells, Pauga, Afoa, Hingano, these guys are all backs and very classy.
I don't get too excited about forwards as ours seem to dominate at the lower levels because of size and pure athletic ability they are big fish in a small pond but when they get to NRL level they become small fish in a big pond.

Of those, only Afoa and Hingano (if he can come back from injury with the same form) are banging down the door.
Ackland isn't even first choice halves for the NYC team so that's laughable, but he's still young.
Wells is unlikely play NRL this year unless we get decimated with injuries, because of the 2nd tier cap.
I like Pauga as a prospect though. Hope they hold on to him, let him graduate 20's then give him a couple years in NSW cup.
Wasn't a huge fan of Charnze Nicoll-Klokstad at the start, but he's in such good form at the moment that he's probably the next cab off the rank if we get some injuries to the outside backs. Then aside from him its the usual suspects that are not quite good enough for NRL but too good for NSW cup.

Changes have been made to the Vodafone Warriors’ Intrust Super Premiership and NYC teams for their matches today.
The Stacey Jones-coached ISP side faces Canterbury Bankstown at Belmore Sports Ground (3.00pm kick-off local time) while the Kelvin Wright-coached Vodafone Junior Warriors meet South Sydney at Mount Smart Stadium (5.15pm kick-off).
Vodafone Junior Warriors centre Junior Pauga has been brought into the ISP line-up while Bunty Afoa starts for the NYC side.

Bulldogs Keep Finals Hopes Alive

UPSET VICTORY: The Warriors are in the top four, but that did not worry the Bulldogs
Heading into the crunch time of the season, the Canterbury Bulldogs sat three points adrift of the top eight and were in desperate need of a win. Contrastingly, the New Zealand Warriors were flying high with 30 points and in third place on the ladder
Hooker, Craig Garvey was instrumental in a hard fought contest with an unquestionable work-rate seeing the hooker bag a crucial try, line- break and a try assist. In form fullback Brad Abbey was everywhere, making try saving tackles and popping up in support at just the right moments to land a try and a superb try-assist.
The Bulldogs looked the more likely to score in the opening exchanges with their wingers each guilty of missing clear cut opportunities courtesy of some strong Warriors defence. But when the Dogs were awarded their third penalty of the match in the 20th minute, they took full advantage. Some instrumental cross-field running from their hooker, Garvey, created an overlap, which the Dogs right edge was able to exploit. Winger Tyrone Phillips crossed over in the corner for first points, but the try went unconverted by Kerrod Holland. The scores read Bulldogs 4 Warriors 0 after twenty minutes.
The Warriors were guilty of gifting the Bulldogs the ball multiple times in the first half with some silly errors made whilst working it out of their own end. But the Bulldogs failed to convert their opportunities despite multiple occasions of sustained pressure on the Warrior’s line.
The Warriors ended the first half in possession of the ball and were awarded their fourth penalty on the last play. Opting to take the two; Mason Lino converted the straight kick from thirty metres out and the scores read Bulldogs 4 Warriors 2 heading into the sheds at halftime.
It took just five minutes for the Bulldogs to pick up where they left off, with Abbey crossing over after hitting a hole at speed and carrying two defenders over the line, five metres wide of the posts. Holland made no mistake this time, and took the Bulldogs lead out to eight with the scores standing 10 – 2 with 35 minutes to play.
The Dogs were at it again in the 54th minute after some strong carriers from their forward pack marched the team up-field before they spread the ball down their left edge. In a movement that any first-grade team would be proud, Marcelo Montoya crossed over out wide after a beautiful 20 metre cut out pass from Abbey gave the winger the space he needed to extend the Dogs lead. Holland slotted the conversion from the sideline to take Canterbury’s lead out to two converted tries and a penalty goal. With 25 minutes to play the scores read Bulldogs 16 Warriors 2.
Eight minutes later some opportunistic play from Montoya saw the winger pick up a dropped ball before basketball passing it over his opposing winger and putting his supporting hooker Garvey into space. Garvey made no mistake and placed the ball down just wide of the posts. Holland converted the Bulldogs fourth try to take the Dogs lead out to twenty points.
With fifteen minutes to go and twenty points down, the Warriors opted for the short kick off and were rewarded with possession. Viliami Kaveinga crashed over after burrowing his way over the line from dummy half and Lino added the extras to give the Warriors some hope heading into the final stages of the match. With twelve minutes to play the scores stood Bulldogs 22 Warriors 8
The Warriors would score a consolation try in the final play to have the scores stand at 22-14 Bulldogs win at fulltime.
The Warriors were severely outplayed and outmuscled and the hungry Bulldogs appear to have no intention of letting their season end prematurely with a dominant performance showcasing their desire to scrap into the top eight.

Hooker Jazz Tevaga was back on ISP duty today, making a great bust up the middle to open the way for a Tuimoala Lolohea try.
A total of 12 tries were scored in a free-wheeling contest as the minor premiership-winning Mounties held on to beat a Vodafone Warriors side which kept coming back in today’s 24th-round Intrust Super Premiership match at Mount Smart Stadium.
The visitors had a 20-12 lead at the break but the Vodafone Warriors kept nipping back, going into the last eight minutes just two points behind 30-32 after Viliami Kaveinga sneaked over from dummy half.
They couldn’t find a winner, though, and it was seasoned NRL back rower Shaun Fensom who put the result out of reach with his second try in the dying stages to give the Mounties a 38-30 win.
It’s a result which will see the Vodafone Warriors slip out of the top four if Newtown beats North Sydney today.
The Vodafone Warriors went into the match with a side showing several changes from the one originally selected.
Henare Wells came in on the wing for Matt Allwood and veteran former Newcastle and Wigan centre George Carmont was called up for Jonathan Wright. Shaun Lane was brought into the starting back with Upu Poching going to the bench and Jazz Tevaga came in for Erin Clark at hooker.
The contest was a real grind in the opening 15 minutes, the Mounties earning the best opening in the 16th minute when they had a penalty in front of the posts.
They opted not to go for two, forced a goal-line drop out and from the repeat set found an opening on the Vodafone Warriors’ right edge for centre Eddie Aiono to score. Sam Williams was on the mark with the conversion for a 6-0 lead after 19 minutes.
The Vodafone Warriors wasted little time responding, interchange forward Upu Poching powering onto an inside ball to score next to the left upright. Mason Lino converted to lock it up 6-6.
The scoring then settled into a tit for tat pattern for much of the way.
The Mounties returned serve with a 27th minute try to big right wing Kato Ottio to take a four-point lead but then they slipped up from the restart, failing to cover the kick-off to give the Vodafone Warriors a repeat set from the resulting goal-line drop out.
A minute later interchange forward Patrick Sipley exploded onto a short ball, bursting through defenders to score between the posts. With Lino’s conversion the Vodafone Warriors had a 12-10 lead after 30 minutes.
The advantage was quickly erased, though. with the Mounties setting up left wing Alofi Mataele with some good ball movement and following it up minutes later by keeping the ball alive for Fensom’s first four-pointer. Williams converted Fensom’s try to give his side a 20-12 halftime lead.
The Vodafone Warriors began the second half assertively, lifting their aggression and intensity to put the Mounties on the back foot.
In the 47th minute, Tevaga probed up the middle, burst through and two off loads later standoff Tuimoala Lolohea had a try, backing up and cruising 35 metres to score. With Lino’s conversion the margin was down to 18-20.
As was the case throughout the match, the Vodafone Warriors couldn’t build on it, almost immediately allowing the Mounties to breach their line again with a second Mataele try which Williams converted for a 26-18 edge.
There was no stopping the end to end nature of the encounter.

They were looking good for a follow-up but an off load went loose, Ottio swooped and then busted the Vodafone Warriors up the middle, travelling 50 metres for his second try to have his side 32-24 ahead.
In the 66th minute Lolohea floated a long pass to the left, giving Tomas Aoake a shot at the left corner. He went over but the linesman ruled he had stepped into touch just short of the corner.
Kaveinga provided plenty of hope when he made up for Aoake’s missed opportunity by catching the Mounties out from dummy half. With Lino making it five from five there was every reason to believe but the break needed just wouldn’t come.
