Eight col SUPER RUGBY JERSEY 1610

Just wanted to ask someone who watched the game how Ngani Laumape went with his Super debut? Heard he was a passenger and appeared out of his depth but interested in more feedback. I went to watch and just caught his try then he was subbed.

Big fan of little nugget and wouldnt mind keeping track of his Super exploits...

Didn't see it either, but losing 52-10 probably made the majority of them look like passengers. Would be a bit rough to gauge Laumape on that one.

Was always going to take a few games to get back up to speed.

I thought he went ok. I found he certainly still looks like a league player he was running the ball in an upright position into contact. But had good support play for his try.

I was just thinking about the kid the other day... Honestly, if he were still on the books, he'd be my first picked centre.

On the Super Rugby though, I have a sneaking suspicion that the Blues are going to really surprise people and do pretty well this year. Tana is just the kind of person who you can just imagine players want to play for - especially young Polynesian boys... I can really see them getting up for him. And I bring this up because, if we flounder again this year, and the Blues rise from the proverbial ashes, we're going to seriously struggle big time for mind share and column space. We'll be relegated to even more of a footnote... And that's the whole shame of this situation, that we haven't been able to make the most of the years that the Blues have been utterly abysmal, and become Aucklands no. 1 team, which could have so easily happen if we'd been any good the last 5 years.

The Jaguars are my smokies for a few wins this season, I caught the last 20-30 minutes of their game against the Cheetahs this morning, and they certainly play like the Argentinian national team, but boy can their backs spot gaps, and are fast. Good luck to them I say.

Boo that my Highlanders went down last night. But it was a good game.

Yeah the Brums showed no mercy whatsoever. They had a penalty in front of the sticks and opted for the tap and go. Sure enough they scored a minute later. Hoping Nugget goes good. I see Glen Fisiiahi didnt make the team although someone was saying the coach said he had a little injury niggle and would have been selected had he not. Not sure whether true or not. Also Matt Duffie didnt make the Blues Round 1 team. Funny seeing all my Blues mates come out of the woodwork last night. Havent heard a peep of them for ages :D...

You reckon Ngani Laumape went good last night diehard???

Well, I didn't follow him throughout the game, but he had a great try hanging out on Skuder's hip. Don't know about the rest of it. What did you think?

Rookie centre pairing of Laumape and Aso, not surprised they were schooled. Supposedly those were the two favourites, Canes and Brumbies.

Remember that Aso was not wanted by the Blues, so look for him to explode onto the scene like every other Blues reject does.

Thought Ngani didn't go too bad, the whole team looked pretty rusty so it was hard to look good.

He took it to the line pretty well and with some venom and I felt his running game was pretty solid. Defense was a bit hard to read as the whole defensive like wasn't in synch last night so no one really shone.

The only part that stood out for me as a bit average with him was his passing game, the was one moment in the game where he tried to pass long to the wing it looked like he had never tried a long pass before (maybe he hasn't)

Caught the NZ games and was curious about the new teams so watched some parts of theirs as well.

Good to see the blues get a win, they're due for a good year

Hurricanes were sadly woeful, hope they can sort their shit pretty quickly- was obvious they lost more than they thought with the retiring players leaving. Was surprised at how rusty and unfit they appeared-Julian Savea looked like he had been taking preseason lessons from the Konnie of old and then some

Chiefs v Crusaders was a pretty decent game, thought the crusaders might struggle with the experience they've lost but the took it to the chiefs who showed class to get the win. Shame the Fish couldn't get a run.

Los Jaguares impressed in their first hit out, loved the different style in which they played. Will need to sort their discipline pretty quick though.

Sun wolves went better than expected, thought they'd be the whipping boys but they were in with a chance before the fell away in the last 20 and they're defense turned to shit.

Good to see the footy back and bring on the NRL next weekend!

Matt Duffie played his first game at fullback for the blues tonight, he was horrific, worse than benji was at Union.

Fish gets his chance off the bench tomorrow, but early returns on this latest batch of converts not looking flash.

Apparently the average straight guy makes a terrible gay lover unless he's aways been a bit bi - it's probably a similar thing?

He is better than that. The Blues back to normal service:(. At least they won't make the Warriors look bad.:) Why didn't we look at Duffy for centre?
