I don't mean to play devils advocate here, but I feel someone needs to.
First of all State of Origin is an Australian based competition, not a NZ one
Secondly, Aussies don't give a shit if the kiwis feel alienated by it, it is an Australian based game
Thirdly, The game was average, I will admit, but isn't there always dud games in any comp at some point???
Fourthly, The NRL is an Australian based competition, of which we are allowed to participate in, so in a way we should be grateful for what we have, put it this way, what would happen if they kicked the Warriors out of the competition? nothing really. The NRL would still continue and the games would still go on, and the TRUE fans of rugby league would still watch. I know I would.
Lastly, just in case you missed my point, we are commenting about one bad game in an australian ONLY based series of which we have no participation in or no involvement in outside of being a fan for what ever reason of one of the teams that are playing, and we are saying they should listen to us???? How arrogant are we as kiwis? The stadium was packed, the stadium next game will be packed, so it is obviously working for the people that count.
Are we just pissing in the wind by ultimately saying look at us, your poor cousins, we don't have a comp like yours, so why don't you stop your series and pay more attention to the internationals which we can be a part of. Isn't that way of thinking a bit rich and short sighted, if the passion is, as everyone is saying it is, why doesn't NZ start something up themselves and go from there, instead of whining like a little school girl that didn't get the lollipop, or alternatively stop watching State of O, then we won't have to put up with the whines
First: So? relevance?
Secondly: Which Aussies? The ones selling the rights and making money? The ones making money from Merch sales? etc.
Thirdly: Nothing to respond to
Fourthly: I hate the "your team is in our competition so just be thankful for what you get" mentality. Hell a number of people I have met in Aus that would disagree with your comment, that see it as a NSW game and every other state is allowed to play int heir tournament is insane. Kiwis are arrogant for giving their opinions about the NRL on a website for a NZ based team in the NRL? Seems odd to me.
The Warriors have as much of a stake in the NRL as any other NRL team so long as they are in it, they are stable, bring money in (both in NZ and Aus), etc. If the NRL wants to boot us that's their choice but I would be surprised if they did because there is value to the comp in NZ.
Lastly: your points are a bit all over the place, so I may be Missing the over arching point (aside from an anti-fan who isn't at the game attitude), so I will split your last point up into points:
we are commenting about one bad game in an australian ONLY based series of which we have no participation in or no involvement in outside of being a fan for what ever reason of one of the teams that are playing,
Yea hence it being a thread about one game, in an Australian ONLY based series, of which the fan forums have fans.... I don't quite get the issue.
How arrogant are we as kiwis?
So if we were Australians (I have no idea if any of the posters here are or aren't) it becomes not arrogant to have opinions about a series we love? Another thing that seems odd to me.
The stadium was packed, the stadium next game will be packed, so it is obviously working for the people that count.
So you are saying only fans that attend the match count? I could be wrong but I suspect ticket sales aren't the only income source for Origin, one would imagine the sponsorship deals are worth a bit because of the number of people watching on TV, and TV rights, merch, etc.

Who is whinging like little schoolgirls without a lollipop? I see banter about the match, some people are passionate about there teams no matter where they are geographically located (like people who support international-any sport (NHL, NBA, NFL,EPL,*insert other acronyms here*) and its being discussed in the NZWarriors forums. Unless there is a petition I didn't see that is being addressed to the NRL I can't see where your issue lies with fans discussing a comp they follow and likely financially contribute to.
Is this post based on people suggesting great ways to fill in an origin weekend with more league? because this isn't the first place I have heard suggestions of the sport being stronger world wide with more international matches, the first place I heard that kind of suggestion is from Australians (via a pod I listen to, and by my old work colleagues, all Australians, based in Australia, as that's your requirement for the right kind of fans apparently).
I know a lot of fans in Aus want the sport to be bigger and reach a wider audience, international games on a major weekend based in Aus should be financially great for the sport in Aus, and great for the sports future. If you are specifically complaining about people talking about a weekend origin match then thats something being discussed in Aus.
Excuse the rant but I really don't like the tone of your post as its seems to be basically saying "you guys cant discuss Origin because you are NZers" which is dumb. Sure people can avoid watching origin, but if you don't like NZers discussing Origin you can also avoid this thread.
