Big pack.

If I'm honest, the Blues should win the series this year. Two games at home, and no disrespect to Walters but he can't walk into the job and expect everything to work first time like it has done under Meninga. It will take a game at least to see how it goes and down 0-1 could be too hard to come back for Qld.

Alternatively, the Blues will just play like Game 3 last year.

Origin is the most predictable of all contests, one team wins game 1 in a scrappy encounter, usually the home team.

Game 2 the refs are under instruction to make sure the losing team gets all the calls to ensure a decider.

In the decider the Morons win, sometimes its by 50, sometimes by 6, but the result is never in doubt.

Rinse. Repeat.

Except when Cooper Cronk is out injured and DCE is replacing him - then the Cockroaches have a chance ;)

Be interesting to see who Kevvie picks this year. Milford or Morgan for the bench? You'd have to say both would be unlucky to miss out...

Ah, Daly, he must have fallen to about 6th choice half by now. Yet would be first picked for NSW. which is why this series is always so predictable!

It'll be morgan, which isn't great for the warriors, as hunt and milford will be coming to mt smart with some motivation to show their wares.

The Walker selection was confusing initially but after giving it more thought it makes a lot of sense.

With the new interchange rules we have seen the smaller men causing trouble as forwards tire. We have also seen chaos when a back goes down injured/concussed.

Walker provides energy and footwork if introduced in the middle around tired forwards he will be a danger. He can also cover every position in the back line if needed.

I was hoping for someone like a Peachey but hopefully walker can provide that spark

If Cronk is out, Morgan to halves and one J.Lillyman to the bench. He’ll probably have his best game of the year too, dick.

Nah, Jacob seems a good fellow, but it is a bit of a mystery that he’ll be up to 12 origins (if picked) despite rarely doing much for his club to suggest he should be there.

Bit of a strange decision from Qld to replace a halfback with a prop... Wouldn't it have made more sense to bring someone like Ben Hunt into the squad? Like for like replacement and all?

If I was NSW on Wed, if Cronk is out with no back utility on the bench, watch the repeated high/late/cheap shots on Thurston...

I'm pretty sure Hunt and Milford are on origin bans for this year and DCE is out of form. It may just be a case of Morgan being an ideal utility due to his size, speed and skill and, due to the other options being unavailable/out of form, they see it as a luxury rather than a necessity to have a utility. Or they may just be lying about playing Lillyman.

Either way I'm pretty sure Thurston will be copping plenty of hits, legal or otherwise.

Yeah I think the first two are on origin bans. Risky business going in without a utility though.

Agreed. My best guess would be that they think theycan get away with it due to the combined utility of Guerra and McGuire off the bench. Guerra on the edges and McGuire has played hooker for Samoa before. And if either half goes down they will cope with just one for the rest of the match. It is playing with fire though and maybe Walters love for Lillyman (and wanting to have him in the team) is clouding his judgement.

I would laugh at McGuire filling in for Smith at hooker. If one of the halves went down, I assume they'd move Inglis to five eighth and shunt a back-rower out to centre as Inglis at least has a bit of a kicking game and has played five eighth before.

Gillett has a bit of utility value too. Pretty sure he's played in the centres before, and potentially may have had some time at five eighth in his younger days?

I would imagine you and most of NSW would be laughing at McGuire playing hooker in origin. I certainly wouldn't recommend it if winning is QLD's goal. I forgot about Inglis and Gillett. Although Gillett is always good for a couple of missed tackles so I would be keeping him away from centre. I would put Guerra into centre before Gillett.

Series winner bet? Losers wear an avatar of the winners choosing for a specified time? Week or month?

Im keen. I can set up a poll where people choose what team they support. Let keep this tradition alive :)...

In the past we went for a game by game basis, but people started to renege on the bet. I think maybe the series winner could be the way to go. But Im up for either.
