Another I forgot is Roy Christian.
Went to an event at Otahuhu where they had all five of their Kiwis captains there talking. Roy was there as the clubs first Kiwis captain and he spoke about how tough the game was back then. All Kiwis were picked from the NZ local competitions from all over the country and they beat the Aussies a few times even though the Aussies were fully professional. Most the Kiwis had to take holidays and the day they got back they were back at work at the factories and mines, etc...

The memory is a bit flogged but I remember Murray Wright and Nick ' the greek' Wright. Another I forgot is Roy Christian. I agree, Ponsonby never went so well as that Cronulla victory but that and the Otahuhu win plus the Auckland wins over touring international sides in the mid week games show just how good the Fox Memorial competition was. Some Kiwi's couldn't make the Auckland rep team.
All the Kiwis played in NZ, most in the Fox, it was a very tough competition.
