I dont know? Who has the most money lol? Bro you know the 3 money rent a teams will be in the top 4. Mt Albert, Pt Chev and Papakura. Howick might make a good run but not sure if they have the money anymore? Im picking Pt Chev. Too much money, too much talent.

The difference between the haves and have nots have made the comp boring as hell.

GO OTABLU!!!

Dreams are for free lol yeah both lions and pirates have recruited heavily again in the off season - though I hear Lions don't have the big war chest anymore, they still up there . Howick have to many clauses now when paying players lol Maybe the influx of otara boys might help them o_O

TBH I just want to see someone else win it for a change that doesn't spend 100K+ on the premier team lol sick of the denials and ARL's putting there heads in the sand over the truth!!!

Hoping for a punch up this week - We have Papakura at home; love giving those club sluts shit :finger:

I pick my team every year doxs - We have to much talent and NO MONEY :D Try and catch up with you when we play the leopards.

RUB THE HAWK!!!!

Northcote Tigers how are they going? played under 19's for them 20 years ago lol! If people are unhappy with the same cashed up clubs winning/dominating/signing players from other clubs year after year... the question is why not form a national semi pro comp where these clubs can do there thing against top provincial sides and creates a level playing field in the fox memorial, seems like a win/win idea to me?

Our Ngaruawahia Panthers are playing under and with The Hibiscus Coast Banner.
Unbeaten in The Sharman Cup at the moment.
Team is dominated by our 2015 U/18 players who were led by NYC Warriors prop Keanu Dawson.

We hope one day we can play under our own banner in the ARL.
It can only be a positive for Waikato rugby league and development for our young players coming through , as the game in the Waikato in my eyes is just hanging on.

Not to sure if the staunch Auckland Rugby league public will accept a Waikato team let alone teams in there competitions.
But with no disrespect towards Waikato Rugby League .
With only 5 Waikato premiere teams(Waicoa Bay grade) we rely on our merger Waicoa Bay competition with Bay of Plenty and Coastline teams to able us to play a quality competition.

The only shining light for the game in the Waikato is our Premiere rugby league competition, which consists of the reserve grade and senior teams combined .
It is proving to be a good competition.

People are now realising, when Waikato Rugby League scrapped the Senior Seconds grade.
They took away the development of U/19 players who could not make Premiere or reserve teams.
Was either rugby , stop playing or play elsewhere.

I know a lot of people will disagree, but I see ARL as our saviour if the people leading the way cant fix it up from schoolboy level right through .

Be nice to here your thoughts Warriors. Especially Waikato fans.

Awesome idea. Be great to see a combined Waikato team aim to play in the Fox. Only concern is the travel but from what I remember the Waikato teams were travelling a lot anyway just to find a team to play...

I've been following the scores for that team this season and they've done better then expected. I got to admire the commitment of those players traveling up to Auckland every week for games. I can't see it happening letting a Waikato team enter the Fox/Shaman competition; I heard ARL floated the idea last year and it was shot down for a variety of reasons, but the main one being travel. Some of the Auckland clubs barely stay afloat these days. A lot of the bigger clubs in Auckland were against it. I will say this though there is some talent down those ways and we've been lucky over the years to have had some Waikato players come to our club for a season or 2 - we still put the feelers out down there for mainly forwards.

Business end of the Fox/Shaman season coming up - It might be Papakura's year for a Fox title, probably overdue when you've spent maybe a million dollars during that time to win it  Ellerslie is my pick to win the Shaman to gain promotion, they spent decent coin to get the right players to go there this season

Game of the round this week - Relegation game on Maori TV , Otahuhu vs Northcote :nailbiting:

I don't see why not. Greater Auckland almost reaches that far anyway. I remember as a nipper travelling to Huntly regularly for league tournaments, it is a lot quicker now.

The price of travel is what gets everybody I think.
Getting to Auckland is such a fast trip these days.

I remember hearing Taniwharau making a play to be in an ARL competition last year.
Heard it fell through.
They were a stronger team than our Panthers. Actually they were Waikato Rugby Leagues strongest premiere team at the time.

Maybe it is because the Ngaruawahia Panthers are a close tight knit club why our merger is working.
Plus the support of our Waikato clubs who I hope are thinking about following suit.

I would go on what you put down Ramraider and look for a merger with a club struggling to stay afloat.

As long as you have your lower grades back home, you wont lose your identity.

Thanks Warriors.

I just naturally assumed that if a Waikato team was ever admitted they would have an away game every week. If they were unwilling to do so then they didnt stand a chance of gaining entry. Either that of they would have to pay for the bus. Im sure whatever team went down the payers would love it. Who didnt love getting pissed on the ride back...

Little wonder I havent updated this thread lol. Oats are shit and as soon as they started the season with Duncs I knew we werent going to be a threat this year. Lost a few good players as well. All the semi good players wanna get paid these days and fair enough. Thats the way the game is these days. Money clubs will always stay on top. Poorer clubs have to deal with the scraps or bring up the kids from the U18s.

To be honest I havent bothered going to a single game. Whats the point when your team doesnt stand a shit show of winning. From what Ive been told Oats can barely afford the MoM bar tab lol. Sad days for a once mighty club...

Im at the other end of the table on top with Papakura but like you, haven't been to a game this year after only missing 4 in 10 years before current lot arrived . Its a ego trip for current sponser, owner or what ever he thinks his title is and soon as he wins fox, the 3 team comp, he will be out of there along the his money and you will see the players desert like rats from a sinking ship . Dont think theres one kura bred player their .The Fox used to be a great comp where scores of 50 to 0 where unheard of now its common every weekend.

Sad isnt it. You know what really worries me? When I go to Oats club and see the place struggle from week to week and realise that its only the old heads, the old boys, the life members that are keeping the place going. The way the clubs are run these days and the way the players are the whole grassroots footy scene in Auckland will be dead in 30 years time.

If the players have no loyalty and go for the highest bidder than where the hell is the next line of life members going to come from? Who is going to spend hours every week doing voluntary committee work? We're already seeing a lack of sponsors these days with the vast majority of current being again old boys. What club are this years bounty hunters going to sponsor in years to come?

Not sure whether my prediction is right but the way the games going theres no loyalty from the players to any club...

Otahuhu used to be one of the most respected clubs in the area. A lot of those clubs had hard working life members who worked for free and ran them so well. It is so sad.

The Otahuhu junior teams are still up there in the age groups - I heard the new premz coach wanted to bring some U 18's and 20's up but got road blocked by the coaches who wanted to win the championship for that grade; pretty sad they couldn't see the bigger picture.

Still Oats Old boys stronger then ours doxs, I heard they've rolled out a few motivational speakers from oats past in the last few weeks to hype the premz team up - let's see if it works this week :writing:

Still Fox has been really clear this season who the top and bottom clubs are - sadly we're in the bottom  Budgets are dictating results is my line at the masters drink up's lol and as usual my generation use the club should do this and that line but have no relationships/contacts we can use lol

Sad to see the once proud Auckland competitions struggling. Oats was a mighty club, all their sides through the grades were strong and disciplined. I remember first watching them when they had the likes of Ernie Wiggs , Eddie Heatly, Paul Matete , Shane Dowset? , Bob Jarvis and then Mark Graham, Terry Whittle , Owen Wright and Hugh McGahan among others. Club games were almost a derby each weekend. Ponsonby beat Cronulla in the seventies in one of the best games on Carlaw Park I ever saw. The following year they sent the Roosters ( Easts ) out to play Otahuhu, then Fox holders. Oats won a tight game. That's how good club football was. I can't remember 50 point margins between Fox teams. Promotion relegation was also keenly fought with the usual Sharman Cup suspects battling to beat the bottom Fox sides to go up. I know some players got a few hundred dollars and some clubs paid a win bonus but club loyalty was fairly robust. If you moved about for the money you were soon found out. Most clubs built their sides via the junior ranks. How times have changed.
