I hear he's carving up at training, the other hooker's on the NYC books are going to have to fight a bit harder for that spot.

Fullback Brad Abbey has been ruled out of the Vodafone Warriors’ third-round NYC encounter with Parramatta at Mount Smart Stadium today (12.45pm kick-off).

NYC ROUND #4 | v Brisbane Broncos
Thu 26th March, 11:01AM
[parsehtml]<script height="349px" width="620px" src="https://player.ooyala.com/iframe.js#pbid=fd5fc71d2bcc4b60a622cf8d3348d605&ec=M0Nnk0dDoXrygooD4Nx8zdUroi7Ehgpo"></script>[/parsehtml]
Brad Abbey returns from a one-game absence and Joseph Price is set for only his second appearance when the Vodafone Junior Warriors take on the unbeaten Brisbane Broncos in Sunday’s fourth-round NYC encounter at Mount Smart Stadium (11.45am kick-off).

Abbey has been named at fullback after he missed last Saturday’s 29-16 match against the Parramatta Eels.

Back rower Price, who made his debut last year, has been included on a five-man interchange bench. The others are Sheldon Pitama, Roman Tuhimata, Amoni Tufui and Lewis Soosemea who have made their debuts for the Vodafone Junior Warriors in the last two rounds (Pitama after playing for Melbourne last season).

In positional changes, Marata Niukore moves from the second row to play in the centres, Nathaniel Roache switches from the centres to hooker and Ofahiki Ogden is elevated from the bench to start in the second row. Roache’s selection results in Pitama going back to the bench.

The Vodafone Junior Warriors have had two big wins in the last two rounds beating Canberra 44-24 and Parramatta 38-10 last week to lie seventh on the table (the same position as their NRL counterparts).

Against the Eels nine players made more than 100 metres with forwards Toafofoa Sipley (154), Jazz Tevaga (153), Marata Niukore (151), Matiu Love-Henry (146) and Bunty Afoa (135) leading the way.

The Broncos have started the season by beating South Sydney 36-10, Cronulla 36-22 and North Queensland 30-26.

Sunday’s clash comes close to six months since the Vodafone Junior Warriors beat Brisbane 34-32 to claim the NYC title for the third time.

Of the side used by the Vodafone Junior Warriors that day only six remain for this encounter – fullback Brad Abbey, wing Paul Ulberg, hooker Nathaniel Roache, loose forward Jazz Tevaga and front rowers Toafofoa Sipley and Bunty Afoa.

Three of the 2014 NYC grand finalists – Solomone Kata, Tuimoala Lolohea and Sam Lisone – have all been NRL regulars so far this season and will all line up against the Broncos in the 20th anniversary match on Sunday. Another 2014 premiership winner Ken Maumalo was denied his NRL debut in the opening round when he picked up a hamstring injury on the eve of the game.

Interchange prop Albert Vete also plays his fourth straight NRL match after appearing in the 2013 NYC grand final.

He has a health problem which they just found, bit sad but just waiting on results.
Can we expect to see him on the field anytime soon?
Also, who do you reckon is looking the goods so far in the 20's? anyone you expect to get a call up or get more playing time?

Does anyone have any news on Sheldon's injury from the other week by any chance? On the tv it looked season ending sort of stuff which would be really dissapointing if it is the case. From the little I've seen he looks like he could be a first grader in the future.
Attitude, dedication etc is no problem for him, he's a very impressive kid.

Those damn Tirans.

I would say we're not dumb enough to do that. He got used a bit in the trials so clearly the Warriors see something in him.

Would be a big call for him to move at such a young age if he's still wanted here

On the day they reported it as a broken Tibia. The seriousness of which can mean many different things. Ive seen guys back playing after a month and I've also seen it end peoples careers.

Thanks for the news... and yes you are totally right the implications can be serious from that sort of injury.
Is there not enough interest in the 20s or NSW Cup for injury reports from the club, nothing ever seems to come through unless its a FG player.

Is tiaan wilkins out for good? He has been talked about as a future star
He's got a condition the warriors doctors picked up on and needs monitoring; Tamati Niko is out for the season as well I hear. Paul Tuli will out with concussion from the Fox game over the weekend.

Mole reckons Tirans are after nikure. Hope we don't let him go
He's tempted from what I've heard just looking at future game time - suprised the story broke.

Tiaan Wilkins debuted in Premiers yesterday against Howick in the Fox - He was solid out there, needs more match fitness - but definitely will be our centre/wing in the near future in Fox; hihglight for me was when he bumped off trent bishop during the game lol. Though just heard at the game he might be off back to OZ at the end of the season - Warriors cautious on his medical condition and any future game time in NYC this year.

One late change has been made for the Vodafone Junior Warriors' 14th-round NYC clash against the Sydney Roosters at Mount Smart Stadium today (3.40pm kick-off; match day sponsor: Vodafone).

Mattais Heimuli has been brought onto the bench to replace the originally-named Roman Tuhimata.

The side has been bolstered with hooker Nathaniel Roache back in the side after being promoted to make his New South Wales Cup debut last Saturday.

His selection means Erin Clark is reunited in the halves with Ata Hingano after operating in the dummy half role in last week’s 34-24 win over South Sydney at Redfern Oval.

Last week’s win cemented fourth spot on the ladder for the Vodafone Junior Warriors. They’re on 17 points, one clear of the fifth-placed Roosters.

In their last outing at Mount Smart Stadium the Vodafone Junior Warriors lost to Newcastle, their first defeat at home this season.

Do the warriors have any future Simon manerings, lucks or Taylor in their development squad? Be great to develop some juniors different to what the u20 teams are stacked with.

Tiann Wilkins won't be with the Warriors for 2016, he hasn't been resigned, i'm just guessing because of his medical condition - he's off back to OZ at the end of the season, couple of clubs are lining up already for him;that's the word around our club this week.

Changes have been made on both wings for the Vodafone Junior Warriors’ 19th-round NYC match against the Sydney Roosters at Allianz Stadium on Sunday (11.45am kick-off local time, 1.45pm NZT).

Paul Ulberg, who has six tries in 10 games this year, returns from injury on the right wing for what will be his 25th NYC game overall while rookie Lewis Soosemea lines up on the left side for his seventh outing.

The rest of the starting line-up is unchanged from the one used in the 20-24 loss to Melbourne at Mount Smart Stadium last Sunday.

Coach Kelvin Wright has retained Tualima Tualima, last week’s debutant Tyrone Nathan and Koli Oneone on a five-man bench with Amoni Tufui and Mikaere Beattie recalled.

The Roosters handed the Vodafone Junior Warriors a 38-22 loss when the two teams met at Mount Smart Stadium but have lost their last three games since to drop to seventh on the NYC ladder.

Since beating South Sydney in round 13, the Vodafone Warriors have lost to the Roosters, the Raiders and the Storm while beating Gold Coast to sit fifth on 21 points, only a point adrift of the fourth-placed Canberra Raiders.

Bunty Afoa and Brad Abbey will make their 43rd NYC appearances on Sunday. With eight regular season games remaining they're on target to join a group of 12 players who have appeared in 50 or more NYC games for the club. The list is: Ben Henry (64), John Palavi (63), Mason Lino (62), Adam Tuimavave-Gerrard (58), Siliva Havili (57), Ngataua Hukatai (54), Elijah Taylor (52), Nafe Seluini (52), Carlos Tuimavave (51), Omar Slaimankhel (51), Sam Lisone (50) and Siuatonga Likiliki (50).
