Warriors return to camp for some preseason fitness before the Christmas break. Been told that today will just be mainly testing ie weight, skinfolds, fitness, injuries, etc. Every player was given strict instructions before the break as to what their expected targets were in regards to their test results. Cappy isnt taking any BS this season.

This is the first bit of news out of the Warriors. If you come across any material then please post up as this thread and Recruitment is basically the only bit of news we get to break up the very loooong offseason...

If the campaign is extra-special for the club overall it’s equally so for head coach Andrew ‘Cappy’ McFadden as he begins his first full season in control after taking over the role in trying circumstances after five rounds of the 2014 NRL campaign.

Alongside him will be one his new assistant coaches Andrew Webster from Wests Tigers while his other newly appointed assistant Tony Iro has commitments with the Kiwis in the Four Nations tournament before returning to the club.

One of the new player signings – ex-Canberra centre-winger Matt Allwood – begins life as a Vodafone Warrior tomorrow but fellow recruits Ryan Hoffman and the just-announced Bodene Thompson are still on Four Nations duty with the Kangaroos and the Kiwis respectively and won’t join the squad for several weeks yet.

Other players also committed to the Four Nations are Kiwis Simon Mannering, Manu Vatuvei, Thomas Leuluai, Shaun Johnson, Suaia Matagi and Siliva Havili plus England’s Sam Tomkins and Toa Samoa’s Dominique Peyroux.

Veteran prop Jacob Lillyman is set to have another two weeks off before resuming training on November 17.

Konrad Hurrell (wrist), Ben Henry (knee), Glen Fisiiahi (shoulder), Ben Matulino (knee), Charlie Gubb (leg) and David Fusitua (shoulder) are either coming off surgery or have been rehabbing injuries. Hurrell had surgery just last Thursday on his scaphoid.

The pre-Christmas offseason schedule begins tomorrow with field and gym sessions and more of the same on Tuesday. After a rest day on Wednesday, the players will be at work again on Thursday and Friday followed by an early morning session at Auckland Domain on Saturday.

The squad of players involved this week is: Brad Abbey, Matt Allwood, David Bhana, Raymond Faitala-Mariner, Glen Fisiiahi, Nathan Friend, David Fusitua, Charlie Gubb, Ben Henry, Konrad Hurrell, Sebastine Ikahihifo, Solomone Kata, Ngani Laumape, Sam Lisone, Tuimoala Lolohea, Sione Lousi, Ben Matulino, Ken Maumalo, Dane Nielsen, John Palavi, Sam Rapira, Chad Townsend.

Others involved will include Sam Cook, Viliami Kaveinga and Albert Vete. Also joining the group on November 10 will be Vodafone Junior Warriors co-captain Mason Lino who was due to join Carcassonne in France but has since had a shoulder operation.

Another new start or fresh dawn. We have had a few of those the last few years; 2012, 2013 off seasons and this years change of coach after the season started.

We need to get this off season right. The expectations the guys come back within certain weights and skin folds is a good start.

McFadden trained the guys harder during the season hopefully a full off season of that gives us a squad battled hardened and ready to go next season.

The recruitment front was looking pretty bleak up until this weekend. We still have some positives to take out of 2014 with the way the season was turned around the media were talking about the spoon when Elliott was sacked.

No excuses for Cappy. This is his time and he's going to get to do it all his way this season. He has to deliver...

Is there any word on appointing a strength and conditioning coach?

Or is happy with Wiki stepping up for now?

Not sure. I'll check with some one tonight...

So Mason Lino got a contract here?
Dont think so. He just had to have surgery here through ACC instead of his new club paying tens of thousands in France. I'll see if I can get some word on it...

"We can make them better than they were. Better...stronger...faster."

French Season is well underway - so he wont be going to France I wouldnt think.
Well from what I saw yesterday lino, sam cook, and Willie Stowers would be the best options we have in the halves for our NSW CUP Team - no one stood out in any trial game really .I might of missed someone.

Yeah they are the best halves in the country imo.

To partner whatever NRL player is playing next to them Tui or Chad or TL

Matulino's probably thinking "I wish I was in the Kiwis camp and not here." He so looks happy to be there.

Yeah your right. Just had it confirmed. Due to his shoulder operation he wont make it in time for the French season so he's training with the Warriors but hasnt been signed as yet...

Player I just spoke said theyre getting whipped on the first day back lol. I fucking love it!

Everyone has come back from break fit, on weight and past their skin fold tests. I know this line gets trotted out every preseason but its a lot harder under Cappy if what Ive been told is correct.

Got rained off so I might duck down and watch them train...
