I went Mannering and Matulino for the vets that stood up, pretty close to going Johnson but his slow start and missing the last 3rd of the season to injury made him miss the cut for mine.

Last place was a bit of a toss of a coin with Vete and Lolohea for standing up and exceeding expectations as rookies in a pretty shit team, went Vete in the end but Tui was on par.

Mannering, Friend, Vete for me

Mannering for his consistent efforts but god I wish he would look to move the ball sometimes rather than stick it under his wing
Friend - an absolute trier, never give up player, who puts effort in way above his skill level
Vete - a metre eater, did all that the coach asked of him

Mannering, Matulino, Lolohea.

Shauny unlucky as hell to cop that injury, cos he was playing himself into the POY spot quite nicely. Lolohea is a shoe-in for rookie, so it's pretty hard to look past Mannering for player of the year. Again.

Not just for his inevitable consistency, which is what got him the title in the past, but this was a year of him playing out of his skin. 2nd in the NRL for tackles, 4th for offloads, and averaging something like 105m a game. The guy must be a fantasy-footy wet dream.

Been keeping track of the player rating results, jumping the gun on some of the award categories, this is just by the numbers of what people rated, and they go like:

Forward of the year and Player of the year | Ben Matulino | 7.3

Back of the year | Shaun Johnson (not a good year for the back division)| 6.1

Mr Consistent, least difference in performance | Albert Vete | Var. 0.7

Mr Inconsistent, was good, was bad, was all over the show | Sam Tomkins | Var. 4.3

Best performance by a back | Shaun Johnson, rd 18 vs Storm | 9.2

Best performance by a forward | Simon Mannering, rd 2 vs Raiders | 8.8

Worst peformance by a back | Chad Townsend, rd 22 vs Dragons | 1.0

Worst peformance by a forward | Sione Lousi, rd 25 vs Tigers | 2.0

Biggest improver from first half of the season | Shaun Johnson | + 1.6

Fell off the most from first half the season | Sam Lisone | - 1.5

Went with Simon Mannering, Ben Matulino and Tuimoala Lolohea just because. Was close to going Ryan Hoffman but still pissed he injured himself during Origin...
I chose the same three. Mannering will almost certainly win the club's Player of the Year again. Lolohea should feature in the NRL Rookie of the Year. Should at least go close.

Personally, I think Matulino is the player of the year, mannering had a few dud games with some daft offloads undoing his hard work.

Ben also isn't hurt by not featuring in 3 of the most insipid performances, was always good when he was out there.

2 Mannering
3 Thompson or Vete

Went Matulino, Mannering, Thompson.

First two - no explanations necessary.

Thompson - I thought he was actually our most consistent signing this year. Noticed it when he wasn't there on the right edge. Hoffman started the season on fire but faded post origin etc. Thompson was just as effective (IMO) and a lot cheaper...

Mannering for me edges out mutts.
Sj third by a nose from lolohea.
Just curious who do people think had the better season between the two second row recruits- Hoffman or brodene?
The hoff got off to the better start but brodene came home a lot stronger- I'd give it to brodene tbh. It would be interesting to compare their stats.

The peoples ratings for them were pretty close, The Hoff is ahead by a bit due to his hot start, great middle of the season for Bodene, who ended up playing 3 more games.

According to the stats on this site Thompson makes twice as many tackles a game, 40.4 – 19.5 which is pretty crazy, think he did spend some time in the middle at various points. Chad averaged more tackles than Hoffman, that’s not really protecting your halves partner cobber.

Thompson leads in line breaks, Hoffman leads in offloads, Hoffman slightly more errors, Thompson slightly more missed tackles.
Before it looks too one sided Hoffman does run for quite a few more metres per game, 99 – 79.
The two of them probably complement each other quite well.

Went with Mannering, SJ and Tui.

Simon Mannering busted his back side all season.

Shaun Johnson simply IS the Warriors at the attacking end.

Tuimoala Lolohea is short priced for Rookie of the year in the NRL and already finds himself in the top two players at our club in multiple positions.

Hoffman: 18 games, 3 tries (first three weeks I think), 229 runs, 1954 metres, 3 linebreaks, 17 offloads, 360 tackles, 29 missed tackles, 15 errors
Thompson: 21 games, 6 tries, 212 runs, 1874 metres, 9 linebreaks, 6 offloads, 813 tackles, 43 missed tackles, 8 errors.

I know why I picked Thompson as my third above ;)

Ben Matulino easily for mine. HUGE improvement from a disappointing 2014 season from him. Interesting to note that in 2013 he averaged 42 mins a game, 50 mins in 2014, and now 58 mins a game this year.

2015 Stats
Averaged 144m
per game, 27 tackles
, 2.5 offloads
.

2014 Stats
Averaged 90m per game, 19 tackles, 2.1 offloads.

Simon Mannering gets second spot. A defensive rock for this team. Look at the additional number of average tackles he is making out there in the middle. Additionally he has cut down on errors from nearly 0.8 to 0.5 per game.

2015 Stats
Averaged 94m
per game, 46 tackles
, 2 offloads
per game.

2014 Stats
Averaged 88m per game, 29 tackles, 0.8 offloads.

Shaun Johnson defaults into 3rd spot, because frankly without him this team turned to custard. Can only wonder what his stats would be like if he was playing for a team like Roosters, Storm etc.

2015 Stats
Averaged 56m
, 0.7 try assists
, 15 tackles, 0.8 line breaks
, whilst registering 1.4 errors
per game.

2014 Stats
Averaged 66m per game, 05. try assists, 13 tackles, 0.5 line breaks, with 0.8 errors per game.

Honourable mentions to Albie Vete and Tui Lolohea.

I went Mannering, Matulino and last place went for under rated Lillyman.

I can't see the love for Lolohea. Filled in ok. Hasnt really played consistantly well. Would have thought Vete perhaps deserved it more.

Also dont think SJ has gone that well. Yes he had a run of three good games against the minnows but other than that wasnt great. A poor first half of the season and the second half was only lifted because of those three good games.

I will predict RTS, Mannering and Matulino will be next years picks.
