He is the best there was, the best there is, and the best that there will ever be.
yep, and I think Wade Graham 2nd rower of the year and Matt Scott front-rower at a pinch ahead of Bromwich.Parker should have made team of the year over JT at lock surely?
He is the best there was, the best there is, and the best that there will ever be. He's a freak. But so is Shaun Johnson and Roger Tuivasa-Sheck. Can they start the dynasty that Warriors fan have been craving for? How long can we keep Roger Tuivasa-Sheck before he becomes an All Black?
Check out the teams JT had when he won those awards, wicked teams bro, far better quality, the props in particular, but generally even the backlines reek of a quality that we have seldom if ever seen.To be honest, I don't think we can compare Shaun Johnson to Thurston. At the age of 21, Thurston won a grand final at the dogs. At the age of 22, Thurston won the Dally M leading the Cowboys to their first GF.
Sure, it's taken 10 more years to get the Cowboys to another GF - but JT has won two more Dally M's in an underperforming team (and a couple of Golden Boots in the meantime).
Shaun Johnson has a golden boot off the back of a dominant sides performance last year. But so far for me, Shaun Johnson doesn't compare to what Thurston has brought to the game. And I don't mean that with the slightest bit of disrespect for Shaun Johnson - who I rate very highly. But Thurston is an immortal in waiting for a string of very good reasons.
The one that really shocked me last night... Not a single kiwi woman made the list of female player of the year... That totally showed bias...

At the dogs - yeah completely stacked side (I mean they had Asotasi, SBW and JT on the bench)... but the Cowboys 2005 side wasn't that stacked... A lot of experience and a few journeymen (decent props - but lacking a bit in other areas IMO).
I'd love to be wrong, and I hope I am, but right now I'd say we'll be lucky if Shaun Johnson deserves to win a Dally M (let alone actually manage to win one given the inherent bias towards Australian players in the judging)...
I reckon that 05 Cows team was far better than average, a back 3 of Bowen,Williams and Sing, actual centres in Hanay and Bowman, a better than solid pack with Rauhihi rampaging, Payne would have to rate as one of the most under rated Hookers to have played.
Check out the team they played, there certainly was far better teams on paper than both teams but the key ingredient in both was a good balance of Senior players with some upcoming young stars.
The Cows have had some great packs since and have always had actual backs.
JT could look just as inconsistent with the Cows as Shaun Johnson does with the Warriors when they didn't quite have their roster on point.
Even early this season JT had some horrendous games passing over the sideline in several games, even when we played them Shaun Johnson was shutting him down for most of the game, it was our middle and left that fucked shit up to throw it away.
