General 2014 Pirtek NZRL National Premiership

Yea, how could I know what eligibility rules are applied across grades I'm only from Canterbury..

People do deserve to get sacked, this is Rugby League 101, but what would I know I'm only from Canterbury..

That's correct they didn't try to stretch them they tried to break them..

Well you dont sound like you actually know what happened? or Why?

Apparently the National Comp has a clause which says you have to eligible to play finals footy in your province.
This is new this year. it is also bad because thoses rules differ across the country and cant be easily determined by joe public.
hence why NZRL was supposed to verify for the team.

In ARL you have to play the majority of the last few games in Fox. That isnt public information.

Also in the past NSW Cup was viewed by ARL as the same level as Fox. Because people used to not put their hand up to play for the vulcans at the end of the year lol
Hence why they might of thought Vete was eligible and asked the question and got a green light.

In many cases you could register to a league club and then play no games the whole year and be eligible.

Sam Cook played for Northcote in the Fox and was cover for NSW Cup.
Warriors have a few injuries and northcote drop out of contention (well they get out of relegation zone). He plays the last round in NSW Cup.

They register him accepted him - then let him play 3 times before somebody knew anything.

NZRL dont KNOW THEIR OWN RULES, HOW TO CHECK THEM etc

Not Ackland's fault bro - Akarana is a NZRL district, nothing to do with ARL. If anything its the Board member for both ARL an Akarana who has started all this kaka in the first place.

Bro I still reckon they are one in the same.

Will see if ARL fund some sort of case against NZRL - they normally do in the past lol.

Apparently ARL were the only who knew Vete was ineligible and didnt tell counties.
But they told NZRL the day before and they cldnt be bothered to tell counties either. lol.

Think you'll see both Auckland teams take action against the NZRL and so they should. Id be looking at recovering some of the costs of funding the teams and putting them on notice that their screw up isnt going to be tolerated. Auckland should break away and play an internal comp. Waste of time playing in the Pirtek Cup.

Didnt bother watching the final. Sat outside in the carpark getting pissed. The final result was never in doubt and the Stallions can count themselves lucky it was raining or you could have seen another 20 points added to the final score...

The top two sides in the NZRL National Premiership standings have been ruled out of today's competition final after they were found guilty of fielding ineligible players.

Both the first-placed Counties Manukau Stingrays and second-ranked Akarana Falcons were penalised for fielding ineligible players and the third-placed Canterbury Bulls and fourth-ranked Wai-Coa-Bay Stallions will now contest the title match.

Yesterday an NZRL jury of appeal heard an argument from Akarana over their right to take on the Bulls in the premiership decider, however both the Falcons and Stingrays had competition points deducted to see them ruled out of contention.

"Clearly we've had some issues around eligibility that has resulted in where it is but those two teams are there and will contest the final," NZRL chief executive Phil Holden said. "Both teams fielded ineligible players and we've got our rules and we had to stand by that."

The drama arose after both Counties and Akarana fielded players from the Warriors' NSW Cup side which last year came under the umbrella of Auckland Rugby League, playing as the Auckland Vulcans. This season saw the Warriors' NSW Cup players registered with the NSWRL, meaning they were not registered with the ARL and ineligible to take part in the National Premiership.

"With the disappearance of the Vulcans it's only now that we're realising it's creating a void in terms of the processing of eligibility," Holden said.

Talking to a few different people at the game in the know yesterday - the whole thing is set to get toxic to much power an control games going on - Counties heading to court to pull away from NZRL. As I heard it sponsorship $ is a big problem cause the Counties major sponsors was pulling out because of the NZRL handling over the whole saga.

Holden your a muppet fancy trying to tell the Counties clubs this year to dissolve and go under Akarana - what a joke , chairman's bounced you out of the room haha, he backed down pretty quick - to much big brother , little brother mentality. He's just a face.

The people running Akarana also have positons of influence an power in ARL - that's a clear conflict of interest. Brought up the Ackland rumors to the some people, no truth to it; they reckon it's those Akarana people running it.

Warrior 20's and NSW cup players set to be banned from playing the BS Pirtek National Comp - Districts are moaning, I can see there point ina way but where do the FRINGE Warrior 20's boys play now? The Hawks boys spent more time playing for us then for the Warriors. I had a Dad of one of the Hawks Stingrays Warrior 20's ask me yesterday , is it true my son can't play for Counties anymore because ,he's to old for Resident 18's and JK's is a hard team to crack, he's got a 2 more years at the warriors - my answer go play for Samoa!

Rubbish Final , I got there at the end of the game and stood amongst the Canterbury supporters , and Booed them , you know the truth, etc , funny no one said a word to me or clapped after that - TRUTH hurts (Don't think I was that tipsy). A bunch of 18 - 21 year olds gave the Bulls a touch up this year and yesterday that court room title meant nothing. How can McIvor talk that shit on camera yesterday LMAO PMO TBH. Look how many players were puffing out there - Fox teams would of played better that's the TRUTH.

Worth the $5 to watch the JK's though something NZRL didn't Fuck up lol IMO it's good to see promotion of that team again - it was the pinnacle team when I was coming up for us to make after Auckland lol

Solution seems pretty simple IMO. Just put a number on it. You have to play X amount of games in the local domestic team to qualify for the provincial team. Think the total is 8 games for NSW Cup to be eligible to play finals footy if the NRL team has been knocked out. Sounds like a good number to me.

Have to do something because its unfair punishing players because they fill in for the U20's. Dont know why districts are scared of kids for anyway lol. Pretty sure Wellington will be happy when Kurt Robinson and Paul Ulberg get developed for them...

You speak to much sense. You will never have a future in league administration.

I thought league administration would be a lot better in the bigger centres. Where I grew up it was a shambles; I remember getting in my mates car one day and asking about why he had all of the tins of baked beans etc. The club hadn't paid it's fees to the NZRL so they needed to raise money. I never saw one raffle around town, sure some lazy manager who couldn't afford or want to go to the supermarket came across a nice scheme to fill his pantry.

It's the administration around the world that seems to hold the sport back; the game seems to only survive as the product on the field is so good.

Your solution sounds awfully like the reason there was a protest in the 1st place. The magic number is 7 games in domestic football I believe, clubs have tried to stack their teams down the grades forever. People should just know their rules fullstop.

People make far too much about age around here, if your good enough your good enough, shit the Australian team has named 2014 NYC eligible players.

And all this bullshit about not having the best team on the field, excuses is all that is, it happens every week in every grade, even Canty played most the the Pirtek not at full strength, 3 or 4 players don't make a team, a team makes a team and has to find the way to play through when they don't have first choice selections available.

Anyone seen the NZ residents side?
I know Manu weepu, aga fiso, Chris bamford and ken tofilau made it from canterbury.
Do they actually play anyone? And what's the criteria? Same as the pirtek cup? -Whatever that is.

They havent posted anything yet but it is supposedly the best performers from the premiership.
Is Tofilau signed to a NYC side? They said that other kid was trialling for the Warriors

They used to play the maori every year but the maori side are in queensland.

Don't know that's why I'm asking but apparently those guys made it.
Pretty shit if it's only on paper- surely it wouldn't be that hard to organize a game for them.

NZRL dont give a shiat about the competition that is why.
They will use what happened this year to cut funding.

Warriors NSW Cup side to play them maybe? Albert Vete & Sam Cook lol that would be classic but seriously not a bad idea

Tried to watch it yesterday but couldnt get past the first few sentence. Still too soon to be hearing his voice...

Still to soon to be hearing his voice?
You obviously don't listen to RadioSport or RadioLiveSport very often they still have him on quite a bit. At least the comments on Stuff about it being sad he didn't have another year to turn things around have stopped. The clubs still fixing up issues from his time in charge.

Watching the union test last night Ewan McKenzie sitting on the side line reminded me of Elliott at the start of the year; probably sitting on the side line so the players stop talking about the idiot up in the box.

Speaking of which they won their game against the Queensland Murri 46-22...

Maoris the sad guys picked like 5 or 6 NRL players.....there needs to be an investigation lol.
Murris will be A grade + country players.

Also the NZ Maori are a bit of a rort - the coach & manager pick players they know and like.
Hence most of them are from Auckland Maori, Pt Chev or Taniwharau lol

Should be called NZ Maori selection. No team should be called a rep side unless it the best available.

Like Tama Koopu cant even make the newcastle NYC side.
