Nehemiah Gordon has reportedly become the latest cross-code player to agree to a rugby league contract, signing with the New Zealand Warriors.

Joining from rugby union, the fullback was initially with the Warriors on a train-and-trial contract but has since been upgraded.

As reported by Wide World of Sports, Nehemiah Gordon has signed an NRL contract with the Warriors after impressing in the club's Jersey Flegg Cup team.

It is understood that the Melbourne Storm were also interested in recruiting the fullback but he turned them down to remain in New Zealand.

"Nehemiah's strong work ethic, skills and his coachable attitude impressed the Warriors," his manager Adrian Lepou told Wide World of Sports.

How does BHU stack up against our present Props from a value for money basis?

Easy, he doesn't!

After AFB, we've essentially got converted players (Barnett, Niukore) or juniors like Ale and Zyon Maiu’u who are on f**k all.

Bunty is our other experienced prop who is on buggar all, while Jazz is probably another converted prop so hard to really gauge against what we have.

750k I think is probably slightly overs for someone of his calibre, but there's nothing else available at the minute.

To be honest, if we've offered 750k and he hasn't gobbled that up and signed with us, I'd be shocked as I really don't think he'll get a better offer. If that's the case maybe we double down and try to just focus on what we have right now? Gives us a mill to spend on someone like SJs replacement or another out and put superstar

A top 30 contract??

Don't want to drag this off topic but did you watch Perham at fullback for the Dogs last year? He was so bad in every game I saw. Couldn't believe he kept getting picked
Perhams got skills and could be a player. For some reason the Wahs let him go. I trust in our process ( thanks SK) and Webby.

WARRIORS NAB RISING STAR

The Warriors have picked up rising Knights forward Toni Tupouniua - for peanuts.

The younger brother of Roosters star Sitili Tupouniua, Toni was a standout for the Knights' NSW Cup team last season.

He was set for a top 30 spot with the Knights this season before the club needed to free up cap space and allowed him to look around.

The 24-year-old - who was born in New Zealand - did a deal with the Warriors which the Knights are funding the majority of and will play in this weekend's trial against the Tigers in Christchurch.

That certainly puts a positive light on this signing. Hopefully it works out.

Listed as 24yr old 195cm 2nd rower but played couple games NewC NSWL Cup starti g at prop and rest off bench. Interestingly was in Penrith system until end of ‘22 season. Moved on same time as Webster did, so have both worked together before

Thanks for the info, that's really interesting. I wonder if he's going to be the Jackson Ford of 2024 - comes outta nowhere to lock down a spot in our 17 all year. Listed at 98kg tho so I'm hoping since he's been here he's been smashing the Macca's and Burger King, get him up towards 108kg so he can play prop

So depth signing?

AFB, Barnett, Marata (off bench?)

Toni, Ale, Zyon Maiu’u etc fight for the other bench prop spot? Jazz would take their spot as a gun player against non-top 4 teams

Bunty as emergency depth for a crisis, which is awesome

Bit left field when our mob has so many prospects in our local junior forwards.

Doesn't seem to fit our development model.

Can only presume then that he is VERY good....but that doesn't stack up or the Knight's would have prioritized keeping him.

Coaches pet? not saying that meanly. Just saying, coaches work with kids then develop a relationship with them, especially the kids who learn quickly, those are are coaches dream pupil.

I tend to glass half full any signings....so....welcome home kid....

Experienced depth for NSW Cup is never a bad thing.

We're light on second row options who have been there and done that for multiple seasons in NSW Cup.

That's what he's there for imo, a bridge guy who may be needed for first grade if we have a bad injury run but ideally won't be needed unless he kills it.
