After playing Australian Schoolboys rep footy in 1999 Luck would make his NRL debut for the Cowboys in 2001. Luck would play 76 games for the Cowboys, mostly from the bench, before signing for the Warriors.
In his first season for the Warriors, 2006, Luck managed to play every single NRL game for the Warriors. He would go from being a bench player at the Cowboys to being an 80 minute starter and his defensive workload would become a cornerstone of the Warriors defence line for everty season he was fit to play. He played over 50 consecutive games for the club and made the most tackles for the club in 2007, again being named Clubman of the Year. In 2007 he was called into the Queensland squad as injury cover but was not required. He was named in Queensland's Emerging Origin side for 2009.
On 25 April 2009, whilst playing against the Melbourne Storm at Olympic Park, Luck made an NRL record-breaking 74 tackles in an extra time draw, 14-all, which was beaten a year later in Round 11 2011 by Shaun Fensom with 75 tackles against the 'Dogs. The previous record was held by Nathan Hindmarsh of the Parramatta Eels who had 69 tackles in a match in 2007.
At the end of 2009 Luck picked up the Warriors biggest award, the club Player of the Year.
In 2010 Luck became the 17th player to play 100 games for the Warriors. During a match that same year against Manly Luck would suffer what was described as a horrific injury to his leg. His leg was slashed by the studs on Anthony Watmoughs boots which resulted in a 18cm gash above his knee. It was so deep the muscle was clearly visible and even Simon Mannering, who is no stranger to bloody injuries himself, admitted to almost vomiting at the sight of it.
On 14 September 2010, he was selected in the Prime Minister's XIII to play Papua New Guinea on 26 September.
Luck announced on 21 April 2012 that he would be retiring at the end of the season after 150 games for the Warriors and 226 NRL games all up. He will be remembered fondly by Warriors fans as arguably the hardest worker in the clubs history and a player who battled on through countless injuries to take the field for the team and the fans.
