He is putting on muscle mass of the explosive kind, rather than the big heavy cosmetic kind, I think he is one of those players who may become much better with time, a lot of time, it is whether the Warriors wanna stay the course.
Could be the next Shaun Lane. Lanky gangly kid that grows into his size.

I'm happy Ford took the tackle, hes not the player i'm expecting to make a money ball at speed to Metcalf. Maybe in time his ball playing ability will improve, but unless it's a sitter i'm hoping he takes the tackle and gets a quick ptb like he did last night.

It was the correct play for the player that had the ball.

Those three errors he had in 10 minutes were tough vs Sharps, but the last two games hes been really solid. Definitely a player that will take time and perserverance to become the complete package as not naturally gifted with ball in hand, he's an 80min work horse.

Yeah I think some arm chair critics are too quick to criticise and hang a guy from one bad game. Even the game day thread, some were ready to hang Montoya and team when the raiders scored …. Laughable! 😜

Mannering used to take the tackle all the time and we forgave him. As you say, a player that knows their limits is not a bad thing.

I also like that he thought about passing, you saw him for a brief moment there decide to resist temptation.

Not to say that he cannot get there with a little bit of ball play in game off lots of practice under Webster.

Berry was a take the tackle guy, now he is somewhere in the middle of take a tackle vs take some risk, which is the Goldilocks zone if you ask me.

Yea people expect centres to pass too much, like it or not it's high risk play working with the sideline.

League wide there aren't centres passing on every occasion, they are coached risk vs reward.

Taking a half break and getting a quick ptb is more often than not the correct play. As it should drag the far side defence across a touch and give you a full field shift opportunity.

Speaking of Mannering Campion was the same

Yep.

We do not seem to have a problem defending offensively down other teams ends this year. And we know we are one of the most dangerous Red Zone set play sides in the comp.

Patience then, is our friend. With our strengths both sides of the ball, we should be all about mounting pressure and living in the right end of the field.

Take the tackle, set up, then live in their half.

The Storm are looking good this year, we saw what our defence could do to them for a half of footy, pretty much pull almost square or ahead of them for the win.
That was a careful and deliberate hit back at the Storm, not a jungle ball thrown.

Yeah, for an example you only have to look at Metcalf passing to Montoya who was bundled into touch last night. (I know Metcalf isn't a centre but that's the sort of situation a centre is often faced with)

Pressure

How often have you watched Warriors games over the year and felt sick watching it being done to us....how good to see us being the Boa Constrictor.
How many times do we hear coaches saying "be patient ".
That was Ford last night holding up the pass to Metcalf.
Try followed soon after
Throw a bad pass and cause the turnover and we end up the other end of the park.
That's what they mean by pressure

To be fair if Berry passed would Mullet make it? The facial expression of his suggested so, I am 50/50

Ford needs to work on passing like Ale (similar gap between defender and runner), and finishing tries, he’s running good lines again like this time last year. If he maintains his current game and improve those 2 the left edge with Roger growing is gonna be crazy

Taine kept on doing Israel Dagg like half breaks then chopped down, maybe short legs or lack of power at this level? If Charnz got through like that he’s gone

He's just small bro. Not sure if he has the frame to build more muscle either. Opposing players only need to get a hold of a little bit of his jersey or shorts and he's going nowhere lol. Of similar size Welsh has quite big muscular legs on him. Plenty of leg drive along with his blistering speed to break tackles.

This is not aimed at you, it is a counter to the critiques of Taine's game of late.

Tuaupiki is a defensive fullback.

He reads the play well, positions himself well, and we look safe when the opposition sets end in a kick. He is performing this magic from a NSW cup background.

He has a brain, a good one, and although he has not broken the field open with his running, his footwork is good enough to more often than not beat the first one or two chasers, he gets ten meters for his side, sometimes he gets fifteen meters, and is often times brought down in a scragging tackle, rather than a dominant tackle which starts us off winning the ruck.

He is a better and more courageous tackler than Sam Tomkins, Reece Walsh, Hayze Perham, the point I am making is his defence is good enough to form a foundation for a player that could with game time, become a good Warriors set move player on attack.

He is seriously underrated and in a way I hope he goes to another club to find his complete game.

Like I say he has the brain of a fullback and the heart of a lion, so all he needs now is opportunity to play fifty games somewhere.

Most underrated Warrior in a while I recon. Fark me he looks as good as Jayden Campbell's early games without all the hype of having a famous father.

He’d do well at the raiders I reckon trailing their strong centres. They had success with CNK and wouldn’t be surprised if they’re having a look with the now fullback Rapana in his final season?

I agree. I am a fan of Taine. Courageous for his size on defense. Quick feet, Good step & good footy brain. Would love to see him pack a little bit more muscle on his frame. Especially his legs. Needs a bit more power to drive through those tackles he almosts breaks.
