Some utter nonsense in that game. I thought Ford played the ball with balance and control, then lost balance after the fact. CHT def taken in the air! The HIA for head clash! Surely both heads that are involved must be sent for HIA!
Not arguing it but the head clash between Walsh and May only saw Walsh go for an HIA from memory.

We don't really score from long range. Inside the 20 we are deadly.

The tries from 40 out would be a lot more common if guys making breaks would set up the next pass. It seems like we have had quite a few guys put through holes the last season and either slipped over in the break or failed to set up the support. Well mainly the starters, cause Ale did it well. It may have not ended up scoring play but he handled it better than a few of his experienced team mates.
Looking better the more time he gets

Can see why the Raiders got those quick tries last year. Coming out of their half they are well spread out, so they had the opportunity to move the ball. A lof of teams bunch deep and then spread as they get up the field.

We have good shape so no reason we couldn't do it to sides late.

I'd love to see us do some of our plays we do inside the opposition 20 deeper. We create overlaps. Imagine DWZ being unleashed with space from 40-50 metres out.

I have to give Canberra credit as I had slightly underestimated their form heading into this one. I'm happy that we had to win with defence and grit. I'm sure Webby will be addressing the lack of composure in closing out the game.

Shout out to Barnett, Ford and Tohu. Metres were hard to come by but they all toiled away. Very valuable contributions.

I'd rather we build to something than explode out of the blocks and trail off.

Credit to Canberra, they lack any real game breakers so have to bring you into the grind - man did they do that.

What to do about red zone attack? Is there a more sideways team than us? Taine had at least two balls out the back running towards the sideline, Metcalf shuffling Montoya over the sideline is a pretty natural play for him.

Anyway, 2 points on the board and back to MSS next week against Newcastle who will be tough but we will be favourites.

If Taine is out, RTS to full back and there will be some juicy debate this week about whether Ali or Pompey comes in (even though we all know it will be Pompey).

Berry another good game, happy to see jazz just do his role thought he was good can’t see lussick in our 17 when Egan fit as CHT showed he can play that hooker role if needed as well as covering a lot of other positions. Tuapiki has also been good at fullback if he is out next week RTS to fullback and Ali likely gets his 2nd game. Our backline depth is best it’s ever been.
