NRL NRL Round 2, 2024 Discussion

Lol, Walsh backing away and fucking up tackling Latrell.

I only watched up to half time. In the first 40 Walsh had the try. But man he had some big mistakes, his mistakes get glossed over by the commentators more than any other player. After that terrible pass he leads the kick chase and Ennis is how he is leading by example. Other players make a mistake and try and make up for it as well. That is all that was.

I watched the highlights package and you aren't going to get the critical mistakes on those unless they play them before a point scoring play that it led to. The way the world is now with so much content there are probably a lot of people that only watch specific games or the big games like Origin or Finals and predominantly watch highlights. If you do that Walsh will look like magic as it doesn't show the mistakes.

The Mitchell try if he moved forward he could have nailed him. He was running the other way like he was going to kick.

RW gets a lot of heat for his mistakes and rightly so, but jeeze what about Latrel....

Largely looks uninterested the whole game, especially on defence. Made some absolute howlers like trying to trap that ball that ended up going back to the Broncs, and then that last miss for RW last try was diabolical.
Similar to RW, has some outstanding play in him but some absolute rookie errors in his game

Only watched the final 30mins tbf, but was really impressed with Mariner. Man he has wheels. In about the 60th when he turned and chased down the Souths winger (assuming it was Johnston?) his acceleration was very impressive.

The bunnies and Latrell once again look very overrated. I can't stand Latrell so am happy to see another loss added to their record. I could see some serious pressure coming on Demetriou if they drop any more in the next few weeks.

On Walsh I agree, he is viewed through rose tinted glasses most of the time, but the silky acceleration he brings is pretty incredible when he chimes in. A player I can appreciate but another I enjoy not liking either.

Your right. The commentators do pump up Latrell in a similar way. If he does one good play its "He's on tonight, look at the fire in his eyes". That is then followed up by some lazy plays or plays where the team could need him and he's sitting back.

The commentators often bring up his strength. Before the Vegas game the TV footage had the Rabbitohs in the changing room before they ran out. Latrell didn't have his shirt on and put in on before running out. Man he didn't have the body of an athlete, especially when you compare him to a lot of the other players. Yes some people find it harder to put on muscle than others. But when you look at all of the comments over the years on his training ethic it looks like someone who hasn't been putting in or the club lets him take it easy, similar to the Eels and Hayne.

Much dumb-arsery in that game, from the players, to the officials, and especially the commentary team... both teams very beatable - of the one which won, their forward pack is not up to it, which is ridiculous as it contains a couple of the best players in the league - before Souths fitness really gave out they were clearly dominated. Also, I understand why Cobbo is in at centre (to accommodate even more speed on the outside), but really, what a waste - he should be on the wing with more room.

Yeah I'm hoping the Cobbo at centre experiment lasts at least until we play them...there's a lot of room to move around him as he seems to make quite a few poor defensive reads.

Made some nice breaks and touches of the ball, but when you have a player who sets up/scores a try but let's another one in, then its kinda pointless imo.

Would rather a centre who creates/scores 10-15 tries a year and only lets in 3 or 4, as opposed to Cobbo who will likely create/score 20 but let 18 in.

Sharks’s have a pretty sweet run first 10 rounds, beat us last week….Doggies tonight, Tigers, Raiders, Bye, Rabbitohs, Cowboys, Raiders again, Dragons, Storm.

Could possibly win at least 7 of the rest of these games plus the bye.
