So hows everyones teams going?

Following advice ive picked half a dozen cheapies, problem is im not even sure if they'll even get on the park......thats potentially zero points im looking at.......is that normal? The risk you take in the hope a few of them hit big and you can uptrade for a cash cow?

Nah mate you want all players in your team to be making money from day day one.
The quicker you make money you can upgrade to the better players.
Trials are good, but I don't think there's much point in getting too ahead of the game until we all see who's named for Rd 1 the Tuesday before.

Wing and a prayer here.

Still don't get it.

But that is cool, I can see how it is complicated and the scoring part can't be learned until the season gets rolling.

One thing that I do not get is the advice not to pick any Warriors because they are not worth it.

I would have thought Montoya is cheap, potentially gonna have RTS light up his edge, and therefore score more points than last year.

Same deal with Berry, not too expensive, potentially gonna get a full season on the right and come into his own this year.

But hey, I went with the advice here and flicked both players.

Metcalf and TMM I woulda though are potentially looking at bigger seasons than their last....

Yeah at the end of the day there's a hundred reasons to not pick someone, or to pick someone in your team and what you just said about those 3 is super reasonable. I'm not in the 'no Warriors' camp as I'm looking at a few too, but unless there's some big surprises in our team this year then the Warriors don't have any guaranteed must haves to start the year.

But certainly as the year goes on, if I could get Tohu/AFB/SJ my team after an injury or reduced minutes I'd be looking at them.

I was thinking the same. Got Montoya in my team as well, as thinking him outside that RTS step gonna reap rewards!!

In most cases those players at the upper ends of the try scoring lists aren't always the best fantasy players. Fantasy rewards players more for tackles, tackle busts, linebreaks etc. The wingers who just finish off tries typically don't tend to score that well over a whole season.

Agree. And I’d say centres are even less likely to score decent points. I’m liking how Montoya is both a Fantasy wing and centre. He gains plenty of meters with the ball and banking on his share of tries.
I’m trying to fit both Cleary and Hines into my team but as both $1m players, leaves a lot of other holes across the park. Also at this stage I don’t have a legit prop in my team and pretty much using back rowers. More time on the park hopefully translates into more points

Good question haha, I'm unsure.
If it does matter maybe someone from the other league could join the overflow if we are scratching to get to 16?

I've looked it up in the guidelines and it says "H2H leagues require an even number of teams" but couldn't find any other details.

Hey guys I know there was talk of an Overall comp for us forumers, where it's not head to head but more of an overall champ based on points.
Were we still doing that so we can crown an overall winner?

This would be in addition to the h2h leagues we already have. If we haven't made one yet, I'd be happy to do that, what's everyone's thoughts?

It gives us Overrun league players a bit of incentive to smash the top league, and maybe we could then have the top 16 teams of this year form the h2h league nek year

So H2H promotion relegation Super League style :ROFLMAO:

I like the idea of an overall comp for this year as well.

There’s a few reason a why the Warriors players aren’t great buys this year. A big one is that they have a very stable squad. Just like the panthers who haven’t made many changes and other than Cleary don’t have any standout fantasy players this year. Changes in role have the biggest effect on fantasy scores. A player like Rocco Berry had a reasonable year last year and for him to be worth the buy this year you are banking on him having an exceptional year. Not saying it won’t happen but changes in form are the riskiest picks.
Also a try is only worth 8 points and an offload is worth four. So two offloads are as valuable as a try. (To be fair 8 point try’s aren’t that common as you tend to get a line break and tackle breaks to boost the points)
That’s why Alex Johnstone isn’t a fantasy gun even though he scores a heap of try’s.
