NRL NRL on Sky

Streaming and ditching the traditional broadcasters has come up the last few times the broadcast deal has come up. It will come up more and more with each passing deal as streaming is now more common.

The NRL even looking at other broadcasters would be a good start. That gets a lot of media attention and they then go back to Fox and Channel 9.

Sport is a good seller as it provides a lot of content and it is live. How long will the big deals last with the traditional broadcasters? The market is changing.

I've seen reports of different sporting organisations signing with streaming organisations. Disney+ had the IPL at one point. That must have been restricted to India. A few days ago the WWE signed a huge deal to move their main show to Netflix.

I'm not sure how compelling our local Australasian competitions would be to the larger streaming platforms. I could be wrong and the AFL may have a deal already, I'm not familiar with their business. It might be a case of 1 or 2 streaming platforms go big on sport and we end up having to pay a lot more for our subscriptions.

On the flip side a lot of streaming services are struggling financially as they are still figuring out their business model.
Paramount + have the A-League in Aus and Stan (guess a neon equivalent?) have Rugby streaming rights

I'm 100% the asshole who will message the final score to my mates watching on Prime.
The way to do it: Text your mates "Text me if you don't want me to text you the score of tonight's NRL game that you're watching on Prime."

And then phone them and tell them.

The Evil Extra With Garlic Chillis and Cheese Move is to phone them from a number they won't recognize.

Have you got any mates left?

What’s the news on the trial games? Are they being shown on sky or YouTube? I don’t wanna pay for sky sport now if I have to wait till the season starts lol.

Damn didn't know there was a game on last night. Ended up on the PS5, getting time in until it gets scare during the season.

I've been busy so haven't looked at the Tigers side. Seen members on here state that they have closer to a first grade side. I like that for our preperation. Last year we all commented our guys looked good but the Tigers were likely to struggle in the season proper and it was players well down on their depth charts.

The general rule of the best players not featuring until the second trial has gone out the window this season. Some teams have a real mix of players. Is this because of the NRL now televising every trial?
And also for the clubs that are going to Vegas this is their last trial.

Edit: I checked and this is wrong lol sorry - ignore.

I think there's a few teams under pressure that will be looking to get things clicking and check on systems and new combinations which is why we're seeing more first graders in the first trial.

I assume Wrighty's favorite Starford To'a is missing the first trial game so his confidence isn't shattered by getting destroyed by RTS?

I think they incentivized it from last season and becuase they stopped the NRL NInes. There is prize money and some other bonus for the club that finishes first. Thats also why all games are now televised and marketed as the preseason challenge.
