Wasn't it Jack Gibson who said to be successful a team needed a good front office to be successful. Since it's inception only now has the Warriors management been truly professional. Along with proper pathways there is now somewhere internally for Kiwi kids to follow their dreams from a young age in a professional environment with proper training and nutrition.

"Winning starts in the front office"

To be fair the Watson administration was very professional.

The big difference now is investment. In the modern game winning starts with smart and long term investment.

'"Webby is very specific in a lot of the drills he does right down to the minor details with footwork and everything... It's been a bit different to what I'm used to, but it's great to get back into that sort of stuff."'

Is this another subtle dig at Kevvie's coaching prowess (following on from Cobbo's previous comment)? He did take the Broncos to a GF though - perhaps he could be a good man manager, but not so good on the technical side? If it was ever in doubt, there just seems to be more evidence by the day that we've definitely landed a good coach in Webby.

Capewell has already been a great advert for joining the club / moving to NZ - hopefully he can back it up on the field too!

Hearing about that attention to detail is good. That would be a big part of why the set plays worked so well last year. The guys had drilled them so much and knew where they needed to be.

This would go along with a quote a player who had been coached by Webster said last year. Something along the lines of "As a half he works with you and sets up plays so you have players in position around you so you have options". Not just the half having the players in position but those players know where they need to be and what to expect.

A lot of work will need to be done now as during the season he will have more media demands which will mean a bit less time on the field. That will be where the assistants need to be up to it and know the plays just as well.

David Llong has proven to have the good oil on everything.

In an article prior to Webby extending he wrote that Cam George, Mark Robinson et al can't quite believe what we've landed in him.

He is truly exceptional

Hopefully it is but your all forgetting the corrupt NRL
Indeed.

What is different this year to all the other dodgey years eh?

I am always ready to expect a royal rogering from being the outsider in an Aussie comp.

Our start this year is quite tough I think.

Can win more than we lose against:

Sharks (Fast competition starters vs us the slow starters, at least it is at home).
Storm (late game at AMI say no more).
Raiders (away they are tough)
Knights (probably best chance at a win at home),
Bunny's (Away, lost to them last year at Mt Smart)
Manly (Home game but we rarely are comfortable against the Eagles).

I can see a fair amount of gnashing of teeth around here come round six if we are down the bottom of the table (good chance we will be).

However, one thing we know about the NRL, is that if our team is healthier than the opposition - we are in with a chance in the early rounds, we have a good coach, so anything is possible.

After last year we are entitled to dream here.

I will be rapt if we are in the eight come round six and pile it on against the Dragons/Titans/Knights/Dolphins. We also play the Panthers in the second quarter, but ideally that game is amidst a purple patch where we give em hell / maybe even create an upset. A Warriors win over the best team in history would boost the flagging spirits of even the most band wagon of supporters.
