Pretty fun match last night. That catch was the best I have seen in a very long time, amazing athleticism (https://www.nzherald.co.nz/sport/cr...-catch-that-wasnt/P3XBU7IAZ5EKJO2GGFBW6HZFNY/). It was great winding back the clock and seeing Oram clearing the front leg and lifting the ball into the stands. Thurston was funny to watch, I’m glad he got a couple runs. The only kinda disappointing thing was Lara’s innings, still great to see him at the crease again though.
Jason Hoyt was great on the play-by-play commentary, but found the colour commentary not up to ACCs normal standard, Manaia in particular I find a bit off. For these mainstream commentary gigs they should keep Paul Ford and Dylan Cleaver on.

He was putting together a string of good scores earlier in 2023 so his inclusion for the last couple of series was warranted, but he's had such a horror run with batting, running between the wickets and his usual reliable now fielding deserting him this summer they have to bring in someone else for the Australian series next month to try and figure out the best middle order options for the world cup. I'm thinking Neesham will probably end up being the 6 at the WC wouldn't he?
For the good of cricket Pakistan needed to win a game. We sat out some players and they did.
